Our diverse student body hails from Wayland and Boston and is composed of 32% students of color and 68% white students, with 15% of our students having a first language other than English. Join us in our mission to support the diversity of our school community; implement equitable practices for all of our students, staff, and families; create meaningful connections that foster a sense of belonging; and provide an outstanding educational experience for students, staff, and families.</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Instructional Technology Specialist is responsible for designing and delivering engaging technology instruction for students in grades 1-5, with a strong emphasis on computer science, digital citizenship, and safe technology use. This educator will also support staff and students with instructional technology integration and troubleshooting, ensuring effective and innovative use of technology across the curriculum.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Instructional Duties:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Plan and teach technology lessons to students in grades 1-5 with a focus on:</p> </li><li> <p>Basic computer literacy</p> </li><li> <p>Block-based and text-based coding (e.g., Scratch, Python)</p> </li><li> <p>Robotics and computational thinking</p> </li><li> <p>Internet safety, digital citizenship, and responsible technology use</p> </li><li> <p>Integrate technology skills with core subject areas to enhance student learning</p> </li><li> <p>Stay current on trends in computer science education and incorporate new tools and pedagogies</p> </li><li> <p>Assess and document student progress in technology-related skills</p> </li></ul> <p>Technology Support and Integration:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Support classroom teachers in the integration of technology into daily instruction</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with staff to develop and implement technology-enriched lesson plans</p> </li><li> <p>Provide professional development and training to faculty on instructional tools and applications</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with the setup, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of instructional hardware and software (e.g., tablets, interactive whiteboards, student laptops)</p> </li></ul> <p>Leadership and Collaboration:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Promote a school-wide culture of safe, ethical, and effective technology use</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with administration, IT staff, and other educators to develop and implement the school's technology goals</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to school-wide technology planning</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Computer Science, or a related field</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Massachusetts Teaching License in Instructional Technology</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with elementary-aged students</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in educational technologies, coding platforms, and classroom management</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Education, or a related discipline</p> </li><li> <p>Experience teaching computer science at the elementary level</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with ISTE Standards for Students and Educators</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of tools such as Google Workspace for Education, Seesaw, or Microsoft 365</p> </li></ul> <p>Key Skills:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Strong communication and interpersonal skills</p> </li><li> <p>Patience and enthusiasm for working with young learners</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for young students</p> </li><li> <p>Strong organizational and multitasking abilities</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborative mindset and ability to support adult learners</p> </li></ul>
