<p>Description</p> <p>Title: Graduate Research Assistant</p> <p>Position Number: 0000GA11</p> <p>Hiring Unit: College of Education, Center on Disability Studies</p> <p>Location: Manoa</p> <p>Date Posted: March 3, 2025</p> <p>Closing Date: Continuous - application review begins March 17, 2025</p> <p>Monthly Type: 11 Month</p> <p>Full Time/Part Time: Part Time, 50% FTE</p> <p>Temporary/Permanent: Temporary</p> <p>Other Conditions: Extramural funds. To begin approximately Spring 2025 or soon thereafter. Renewal of appointment is contingent upon availability of funds, program/operational needs and satisfactory performance.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assist with research projects relating to STEM education for Native Hawaiians, students with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups. </li><li>Assist in teaching STEM lessons to PreK-elementary students and families online and/or at school sites, community sites, or on college campus at various times including some afternoon and evening times and some Saturdays. </li><li>Assist in implementing project activities such as: administering surveys and tests to project participants; entering participant data; conducting and transcribing focus groups or interviews with project participants; developing, revising, and editing newsletters, articles, and web posts for project website and social media. </li><li>Assist with making, organizing, preparing, packing (including light lifting) and unpacking, transporting and sanitizing materials and documents for project programs. </li><li>Co-facilitate trainings, parent workshops, professional developments, and presentations online and/or in-person at various times including some afternoon and early evening times and some Saturdays. </li><li>Take screenshots, photos and videos of project activities for use in newsletters, reports, and presentations. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Must be a classified, degree-seeking graduate student (Masters or PhD) admitted to or registered in a graduate program at UH Manoa in any field of Education, Sciences, Hawaiian Studies, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field of study. </li><li>Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above and maintain full-time enrollment. </li><li>Experience teaching or tutoring PreK-elementary grade students. </li><li>Attention to detail and accuracy of project related data and reports. </li><li>Competency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and Zoom functions. </li><li>Ability to edit written products such as articles, newsletters, and lesson plans. </li><li>Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with project members and community contacts in a timely manner. </li><li>Interest in learning new skills such as education research, data collection, curriculum development, teaching, and presenting. </li><li>Availability to work outside of the normal working hours, including evening, weekends, and holidays, as needed. </li><li>Ability to travel independently and in a timely manner to various geographical locations. Requirement may be fulfilled by a valid Hawai`i Driver's license (Class 3), comparable driver's license, or other means of transportation which meets position needs. </li></ul> <p>Desirable Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience teaching or tutoring PreK-elementary grade students in math, science, or computer science. </li><li>Experience developing lessons in STEM. </li><li>Experience with using Excel for data entry. </li><li>Knowledge of values and traditions relevant to the local community. </li><li>Experience teaching in a wide-range of educational settings or incorporating student-led instructional approaches. </li><li>Experience presenting or implementing activities with parents and family members. </li></ul> <p>To Apply: Click on the "Apply" button on the top right corner of the screen to complete an application and attach required documents to the online application.
