<p>What You Will Contribute To Altos</p> <p>An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and highly-skilled Scientist or Senior Scientist to join the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) team in the Drug Discovery and Development Sciences (3DS) department at the Bay Area Institute or San Diego Institute of Altos Labs.</p> <p>The successful candidate will be supporting the progression of our therapeutic programs by providing DMPK support to portfolio projects spanning diverse modalities, including small molecules, antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs), therapeutic proteins, and gene therapy. This role demands a fundamental understanding of drug metabolism, the relationship between physical/chemical properties and ADME, PK/PD/efficacy mechanisms, and the experiments required to generate and interpret the related data for high-quality decision-making.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Serve as the DMPK representative on cross-disciplinary preclinical project teams, providing strategic and data-driven DMPK guidance to advance portfolio programs. </li><li>Plan, manage, and oversee ADME and PK studies executed with external CRO partners. </li><li>Partner with Medicinal Chemistry to develop ADME- and PK-driven SAR strategies to optimize candidate properties and progression. </li><li>Collaborate with Pharmacology and the internal DMPK bioanalysis group to design, execute, and interpret preclinical PK/PD, target engagement, and efficacy studies. </li><li>Calculate the projected efficacious human dose to support IND-enabling development and regulatory submissions. </li><li>Provide DMPK support to early-stage, pre-portfolio discovery programs, helping shape strategy and experimental plans. </li><li>Advise and train the DMPK bioanalysis team to support internalization and implementation of select ADME assays. </li><li>Stay current on emerging DMPK science and best practices through literature review and participation in relevant scientific meetings. </li></ul> <p>Who You Are</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>PhD in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field and 3+ years of relevant work experience. </li><li>Strong fundamental knowledge of DMPK and ADME </li><li>Working knowledge of ADME assays and bioanalysis, leveraged to design studies and interpret data </li><li>Ability to evaluate in vitro-in vivo correlation of drug candidates across preclinical species </li><li>Ability to generate NCA and compartmental PK models; general knowledge of mechanistic modeling concepts (e.g., PBPK) </li><li>Ability to communicate DMPK results in a timely, clear, and impactful manner to non-DMPK scientists </li><li>Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and ability to work independently and collaboratively </li><li>Willingness to gain new knowledge and apply it to support multiple therapeutic modalities </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge and experience using RStudio, CDD, or similar platforms </li><li>Prior DMPK experience and expertise in one of the following: therapeutic proteins/biologics or small molecule metabolism </li><li>Although this position will not be lab-facing, experience with LC-MS for ADME and/or bioanalysis is desirable </li></ul> <p>The salary range for Redwood City, CA:</p> <ul> <li>Scientist I, DMPK: $146,500 - $178,700 </li><li>Scientist II, DMPK: $172,100 - $209,900 </li><li>Senior Scientist I, DMPK: $202,700 - $247,200 </li></ul> <p>The salary range for San Diego, CA:</p> <ul> <li>Scientist I, DMPK: $132,500 - $161,600 </li><li>Scientist II, DMPK: $161,600 - $197,100 </li><li>Senior Scientist I, DMPK: $190,200 - $231,900 </li></ul> <p>Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.</p> <p>For UK applicants, before submitting your application:</p> <ul> <li>Please click here to read the Altos Labs EU and UK Applicant Privacy Notice (bit.ly/eu_uk_privacy_notice) </li><li>This Privacy Notice is not a contract, express or implied and it does not set terms or conditions of employment. </li></ul> <p>#LI-NN1</p>
