<p>Title: History/Civics Teacher - Grade 8 Teacher</p> <p>Location: Curtis Middle School</p> <p>Reports to: Principal</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Ephraim Curtis Middle School is seeking a qualified Civics/History/Social Studies Teacher.</p> <p>Key Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teach middle school social studies, grade 8 curriculum as indicated in the SPS Learning Expectations for History and Social Studies document; </li><li>Embed the History Reading and Writing standards of the English Language Arts Curriculum Standards into social studies lessons; </li><li>Plan and implement engaging social studies lessons using a variety of effective research-based instructional strategies; </li><li>Differentiate lessons using strategies and materials that address a variety of academic, language, social, emotional, and physical abilities; </li><li>Provide appropriate accommodations and modifications as outlined in student learning plans (e.g. IEP, 504, BCAP, and ISSP); </li><li>Administer standards-based formative and summative assessments, including grade-level common assessments and use resulting data to inform instructional curricular decisions; </li><li>Establish and communicate to students clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects; </li><li>Communicate with parents/guardians and students about student progress and needs; </li><li>Meet with team teachers, counselors, and administrators regularly to discuss student progress; </li><li>Maintain accurate and thorough student records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations; </li><li>Follow all administration policies and rules governing students; </li><li>Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competency; </li><li>Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required; </li><li>Complete other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Salary in accordance with SEA salary schedule Level and Steps based on degree and years of service Ranges from B to M+60 Approx: $57,600-$127,400</p> <p>Work Year: 183 days</p> <p>Hiring is contingent upon a successful CORI and fingerprinting clearance.
