<p>Job Title: QC ChemistJob Description</p> <p>Join a dynamic contract testing company specializing in the analysis of gases and oils as a QC Chemist. In this role, you will support the laboratory team by conducting various tests and ensuring quality control for a diverse range of products, including petroleum, gases, and alcohol-based soaps and cleaners. You will receive comprehensive training and have the opportunity to work with advanced equipment unique to the region.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Receive, examine, and log inbound samples for testing. </li><li>Deliver test samples to the sample staging area. </li><li>Monitor the availability of supplies needed for testing processes and communicate needs to the Laboratory Manager. </li><li>Perform testing of samples and quality control specimens using specified methodologies after demonstrating proficiency. </li><li>Prepare samples, quality control specimens, reagents, and solutions, and calibrate equipment for testing processes. </li><li>Verify and communicate results, making appropriate entries into instrument logs, control charts, and laboratory records. </li><li>Maintain documentation, equipment, and work areas in a neat, orderly, and safe condition. </li><li>Assist in training less experienced employees after demonstrating sufficient proficiency. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Experience with ion chromatography, AA, and GC testing. </li><li>Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field with instrumentation experience. </li><li>Basic math skills for unit conversions and solution preparation. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Exposure to instrumentation techniques such as HPLC, FT-IR, UV/VIS, NMR, Titration, Distillations, and Synthesis. </li><li>Industry experience is valued even without a degree if basic exposure to the necessary techniques is evident. </li><li>An associate degree is acceptable if complemented by relevant experience. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The work environment is a small, family-oriented office located in St. Louis, with a tight-knit team of around 10 people. The lab operates with a flexible shift schedule, including weekends. You will work a total of 40 hours per week, with the option to choose 10-hour or 8-hour shifts. The current shift is 9 AM to 5 PM, with potential changes depending on staffing and client needs.
