<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Reporting to the Superintendent of Schools, the Director of Facilities and Operations serves on the Superintendent's Executive Leadership Team and provides district-wide strategic leadership and executive oversight of all non-instructional operational systems and infrastructure. The Director establishes vision, priorities, and performance expectations for facilities and operations, leading the Assistant Director and assigned operational manager to ensure effective daily execution through clearly defined supervisory structures.</p> <p>The Director is responsible for regulatory compliance, fiscal stewardship, operational effectiveness, and long-range planning across maintenance, custodial services, grounds, transportation, food service, operational technology infrastructure, safety, and security. The role oversees approximately 500,000 square feet of facilities and 83 acres of grounds, supervising a two-person administrative team, an administrative assistant, unionized custodial and maintenance staff, and instructional technology support personnel, and serving as the primary liaison to contracted service providers.</p> <p>The position leads strategic and capital planning, departmental budget development within approved appropriations, operational risk management, and district-wide emergency preparedness in alignment with Board policy and Superintendent directives.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, business administration, public administration, operations management, information technology, or a related field required. Advanced degree or relevant professional licensure preferred. </li><li>Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in facilities, operations, infrastructure management, municipal services, or a comparably complex organization. </li><li>Demonstrated experience leading organizational improvement, system modernization, or operational restructuring initiatives preferred. </li><li>Demonstrated experience supervising staff in structured or unionized environments preferred. </li><li>Experience in public-sector, municipal, higher education, healthcare, military, or similarly regulated environments desirable. </li><li>Demonstrated experience managing capital projects, complex budgets, vendor contracts, and regulatory compliance. </li><li>Connecticut Business Manager Certificate or eligibility desirable </li><li>An equivalent combination of education, professional experience, technical expertise, and demonstrated leadership success may be considered. </li></ul> <p>Please visit the Ledyard Public Schools website, http://www.ledyard.net/district/employmentopportunities for a full job description.</p> <p>To Apply:</p> <p>Applications will only be accepted online.
