<p>Department PW/Engineering Type of Position Full-time, non-union Salary/Pay Rate $74,000 - $95,000 Deadline to Apply ongoing MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Considerable engineering experience and good professional engineering judgement; bachelor's degree in civil engineering or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.</p> <p>REQUIREMENTS Must pass a criminal background investigation and pre-employment physical. NATURE OF WORK PERFORMED This position supervises an engineering group in the Bureau of Engineering and performs engineering work involving investigations, studies, design, maintenance, construction, GIS and other related public works activities. General guidance is received from the Chief Engineer and City Engineer/Director. This position prioritizes, controls and concludes work done by subordinates in a systematic and timely manner.</p> <p>EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED Assigns and supervises subordinates assigned to the Section; investigates inquiries from the public and provides response; provides engineering services for other City Bureaus and Departments; reviews designs submitted to the City and provides comments to submitter; approves or rejects designs; provides training, instruction and supervision of subordinates assigned to group; works with engineering consultants to review and coordinate design work; prepares construction plans for various Public Works projects using Auto CAD; prepares specification for materials, work, basis of payment and reviews bids and provides recommendation on award of contract; coordinates and provides inspection of projects and keeps official projects records; conducts engineering studies/surveys as required; conducts monthly project status reports and provides for progress payments to contractor.</p> <p>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Excellent knowledge of civil engineering practices and principles and applying the knowledge in the execution of Public Works projects; ability to plan projects and prepare related designs (using Auto CAD), estimates and specifications; ability to maintain an excellent working relationship with others; ability to express one-self in a clear and concise manner; ability to supervise staff in Section.</p> <p>HOW TO APPLY Applicants should send a resume and cover letter outlining how they meet the specific requirements of the position to jobs@bethlehem-pa.gov or City of Bethlehem, Human Resources, 10 E.
