<p>Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li>Is responsible for the organization and supervision of his/her </li></ol> <p>coaching staff in teaching the fundamentals of interscholastic</p> <p>sports.</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Is responsible for the behavior of the entire squad and coaching </li></ol> <p>staff at all practice sessions and in all interscholastic games.</p> <ol start="3"> <li>He/she also has these further duties: </li></ol> <p>a. Is responsible for the supervision and direction of the total</p> <p>program of his/her sport.</p> <p>b. Directs the work and assignment of his/her assistant</p> <p>coaches with the approval of the Athletic Administrator.</p> <p>c. Safeguards the physical well-being of all participants.</p> <p>d. Controls his/her behavior and that of his/her team at practices</p> <p>and games, since he/she is the person most instrumental</p> <p>in crowd control.</p> <p>e. Informs all athletes of the guidelines, conduct code, policies</p> <p>and procedures of the department and the OHSAA.</p> <p>f. Is financially responsible for all equipment in his/her inventory.</p> <p>Equipment issued must be accounted for at the end of the season.</p> <p>g. Along with other coaches, is expected to cooperatively supervise</p> <p>the locker room and team area. Coaches are expected to be at</p> <p>their area of practice at all times and must be present in the</p> <p>locker room until all athletes have gone from the area. At no time</p> <p>are the athletes to be in an unsupervised area.</p> <p>h. Is responsible for special courtesies shown to officials and</p> <p>visiting teams. Officials and visiting teams should be shown to</p> <p>their dressing rooms.</p> <p>i. Arranges for storage at the conclusion of the season- all jackets,</p> <p>sweaters, shoes, hats and any other coaching staff equipment</p> <p>purchased by the athletic fund.</p> <p>j. Attends all Athletic Department meetings unless excused by</p> <p>the Athletic Administrator.</p> <p>k. Is in attendance at all interscholastic contests involving his/her team,</p> <p>at home or away, unless there is an extenuating circumstance.</p> <p>l. Keeps expenditures within the budget.</p> <p>m. Is cognizant of the tremendous influence coaches and sports have</p> <p>on athletes. The head Coach must approach the task of coaching</p> <p>at all times with the thought in mind that what one says and does,</p> <p>both desirable and undesirable, has tremendous consequence</p> <p>upon the actions and reactions of the young adults.</p> <p>n. Secures athletic scholarships for deserving seniors.</p> <ol start="4"> <li>Assists in the planning of special events such as assemblies, </li></ol> <p>Homecoming, pep rallies, Booster Club programs, banquets, etc.</p> <ol start="5"> <li>Serves as an advisor to the players on his/her squad to help </li></ol> <p>them with problems.</p> <ol start="6"> <li>Is interested and loyal to the school's program. The coach is </li></ol> <p>expected to support the entire program, encouraging athletes</p> <p>to participate in other sports, and to be an active participant in</p> <p>striving to improve the athletic program as well as the total</p> <p>educational program of the schools.</p> <ol start="7"> <li>Performs other coaching-related duties as directed by the </li></ol> <p>Principal or Athletic Administrator.</p>
