Research Grant or Time-limited positions may be eligible for all, some, or no benefits, based on the grant or project funding.</p> <p>Position Description</p> <p>Advertised Job Summary</p> <p>Directly supervise the high voltage electrical crew in the construction, operation and maintenance of the USC campus primary high voltage electrical distribution system including substations and the electrical distribution and control system of four energy facilities. This is a working supervisory position which participates in accomplishing work assignments as a skilled master trades craftsman in the areas of electrical distribution from the power company through building switchgear to include design coordination, project management, technical and safety oversight. Performs highly-skilled work in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures.</p> <p>Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. </li></ul> <p>Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma and 7 years of strong background experience in Mid to High Voltage (460 volt to 8120 volts) electrical distribution systems and the associated equipment of substations and energy plants. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge and skilled in managing resources and inventories. </li><li>Must have the ability to lead by example, solve problems, take initiative to provide services, develop strong customer relationships, measure cost and performance, keep accurate records, communicate effectively, develop proper procedures, define actions to resolve specific problem situations, communicate to management, and prepare reports. </li></ul> <p>Job Duties</p> <p>Job Duty</p> <ul> <li>Performs administrative tasks including assisting and handing purchase requests, credit card purchases, inventory control, maintenance of assigned vehicles and equipment, training and safety programs, accounting, and required personnel activities. </li><li>Estimates time, material or labor costs for use in project plans. </li></ul> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty</p> <ul> <li>Responds to emergency maintenance situations as needed after hours by communicating with night maintenance staff, facility services personnel, or USC police department dispatch, determining plan of action, and physically arriving at area of distress in order to resolve the situation. </li><li>Works with power company, electrical engineers, and contractors to provide a package integrated response during power outages. </li></ul> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty</p> <ul> <li>Coordinates the installation of new and modified electrical systems including but not limited to reading blueprints, schematics, or drawings; </li><li>Consulting with University Project Managers, contractors, and subcontractors to approve new construction plans based on USC electrical standards and to provide information on existing electrical systems that may be affected during a project and advise on requirements for future construction projects; </li><li>Reviewing construction areas for electrical requirements; </li><li>Estimating costs for project work based on length, scope, man power, and equipment requirements; </li><li>Actual installation or modification of electrical systems or the supervision of same; </li><li>Communication of expected installation or modification work with electrical supervisory personnel; </li><li>Trouble shooting or newly modified systems to assure proper electrical functioning of the system. </li></ul> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty</p> <ul> <li>Supervises high voltage electrical crew responsible for maintaining, installing and renovating the high voltage electrical system and performing mechanical repairs for substations, energy plants, and electrical distribution systems. </li><li>Performs administrative oversight in terms of schedules, time and attendance, professional development, employee personal evaluations, training, and safety. </li><li>Manages assign resources and equipment. </li></ul> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25 Job Duty</p> <ul> <li>As a working supervisor, establishes, maintains and monitors a comprehensive planned and corrective maintenance program for constant safe reliable operation relating to University-wide high voltage electrical system, and electrical mechanical systems in all four energy plants and the electrical high voltage distribution system to include inspecting, verifying, communicating, and troubleshooting facility electrical issues, heavy duty motors and electrical equipment;
