A-State participates in E-Verify.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The College of Engineering and Computer Science at Arkansas State University (A-State) invites outstanding candidates to apply for a non-tenure-track Instructor position in Engineering Technology beginning July 1, 2025. This is a two-year grant funded position and focuses on teaching and outreach/recruitment of students into the program. Position will involve teaching undergraduate level courses in Engineering Technology (50% effort) and outreach/recruitment (50% effort).</p> <p>The position is for a 12-month renewable contract. Each member of the faculty has the duty to deliver instruction and maintain a learning environment consistent with the highest standards of the profession.</p> <p>Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teaching assigned courses within the Engineering Technology program </li><li>Guide students through applied and experiential learning experiences </li><li>Develop new courses, curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools at the undergraduate level. Examples of some potential new courses are Programmable Logic Controllers, Industrial Automation fundamentals, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing </li><li>Participate actively in outreach/recruitment for the program and be involved in some service </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>This position will report to the Associate Dean, with the day-to-day reporting to the program director of Engineering Technology.</p> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:</p> <p>Ability to work with various robotic platforms, components, and software tools.</p> <p>Strong understanding of Industrial control systems and automation principles</p> <p>In-depth knowledge of PLC hardware and software</p> <p>Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot PLC-related issues.</p> <p>Ability to motivate and support students.</p> <p>General Days/Hours:</p> <p>Monday - Friday</p> <p>8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m</p> <p>Additional hours as requested and/or needed</p> <p>Regular and reliable attendance is expected</p> <p>Some travel will be required</p> <p>Other:</p> <p>Please note: all position postings close at 12:00 A.M. CST on the position closing date</p> <p>The College of Engineering and Computer Science (CoECS) is on an ambitious growth trajectory that includes upgrades of student and faculty spaces, emphasis on the student experience, professional development of faculty, emphasis on excellent teaching and research, and very proactive engagement with the external community.</p> <p>The university is in the delta region of the state of Arkansas, home to a thriving private sector that engages in developing computer software tools, materials handling, advanced materials and steel manufacturing, to name a few. The new hire will be a part of an outstanding CoECS team to take the college to greater heights of achievement in the years to come.
