<p>Job Summary</p> <p>This role is responsible for leading a mechanical crew in the installation of process piping, mechanical equipment, and related systems. The Mechanical Foreman works hands-on with the crew while directing daily operations to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project requirements.</p> <p>The Mechanical Foreman plays a key role in delivering self-perform mechanical scopes by coordinating crew activities, maintaining quality standards, and working closely with Superintendents and project leadership.</p> <p>Why This Role</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead mechanical scopes with direct responsibility for production and quality</p> </li><li> <p>Stay hands-on while stepping into a leadership role</p> </li><li> <p>Work on complex process piping and equipment installations</p> </li><li> <p>Clear path to grow into Mechanical Superintendent roles</p> </li><li> <p>Be part of a team that self-performs critical scopes</p> </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Crew Leadership & Execution</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead daily mechanical crew operations and set clear expectations for work activities</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise pipefitters and laborers to ensure efficient execution</p> </li><li> <p>Work alongside the crew during critical installations and complex tasks</p> </li></ul> <p>Safety</p> <ul> <li> <p>Conduct daily safety briefings and enforce OSHA and MEB safety standards</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor jobsite conditions and correct unsafe behaviors or hazards</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain required certifications (OSHA 30, Confined Space, Rigging & Signaling, Trenching & Excavation)</p> </li></ul> <p>Planning & Coordination</p> <ul> <li> <p>Execute assigned scope in alignment with the project schedule</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate with Mechanical Superintendents on daily and weekly work plans</p> </li><li> <p>Support look-ahead planning and sequencing of mechanical activities</p> </li></ul> <p>Installation & Production</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead installation of piping systems including ductile iron, PVC, HDPE, stainless steel, and steel</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee installation of mechanical and process equipment</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure work is completed efficiently and meets production targets</p> </li></ul> <p>Materials & Equipment Management</p> <ul> <li> <p>Coordinate delivery, inspection, and storage of mechanical materials and equipment</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor use and condition of tools and equipment</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate mobilization, demobilization, and equipment needs</p> </li></ul> <p>Quality Control</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ensure installations meet project specifications and quality standards</p> </li><li> <p>Track production and document progress</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate inspections and correct deficiencies as needed</p> </li></ul> <p>Construction Documents & Communication</p> <ul> <li> <p>Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and submittals</p> </li><li> <p>Identify constructability issues and communicate with project leadership</p> </li><li> <p>Report risks, conflicts, or material issues impacting work</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required</p> <ul> <li> <p>3+ years of experience in mechanical or process piping installation</p> </li><li> <p>Experience leading or directing a crew in the field</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications</p> </li><li> <p>Strong understanding of mechanical systems and installation methods</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience in heavy civil or water/wastewater construction</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with process piping and equipment installation</p> </li><li> <p>Previous foreman or lead role experience</p> </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <ul> <li> <p>Active outdoor construction jobsite</p> </li><li> <p>Physical work required, including lifting, rigging, and working around mechanical systems</p> </li><li> <p>Daily coordination with crew members, field leadership, and subcontractors</p> </li></ul> <p>This role is best suited for someone currently working as a lead pipefitter who is ready to take ownership of a crew, production, and mechanical scope execution.</p> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <p>Pre-employment drug screen required</p> <p>E-Verify</p> <p>Valid driver's license (DMV review required)</p> <p>EOE/Minorities/Females/Disabilities/Veterans</p> <p>About Us</p> <p>Founded in 1982, MEB is a full-service construction firm headquartered in Chesapeake, VA, with a regional office in Richmond, VA.
