We take pride in being an urban campus with a small town feel.</p> <p>Job Description: SUNY Schenectady County Community College seeks a full-time Payroll Audit Clerk in the Office of Administration. This is a competitive provisional civil service position that involves assisting in the audit, review and verification of payrolls and related documents. Attention to detail is an important factor of this position. Direct supervision is received from an administrative supervisor in the department. General direction in the form of on-going training may be received from a Senior Payroll Audit Clerk. The incumbent does related work as required.</p> <p>Typical Work Activities:</p> <p>Audits payrolls against appointment papers, budget authorizations, social security withholding taxes, health insurance deductions, etc; Assists with the processing of retirement documents; Computes and checks computations for items to be deducted from the payroll; Contacts units and divisions concerning the auditing of the payroll; Answers inquiries concerning payroll matters; Files tax and assessments and payroll registers for the department; Performs a variety of related duties as required.</p> <p>Requirements: Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:</p> <p>Good knowledge of the methods of maintaining and reviewing financial records, good knowledge of business arithmetic and English; working knowledge of the practices and principles of payroll auditing; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to make arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately; attention to detail; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two-year college or university with an Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field and one year experience in maintaining financial accounts and records, six months of which shall have involved payroll auditing or preparation; OR</p> <p>(B) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and two years of experience as outlined in (A) above, six months of which shall have involved payroll auditing or preparation; OR</p> <p>(C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.</p> <p>Note: The essential functions of this job are determined by the department/jurisdiction where the job is located.</p> <p>Special Information:</p> <p>VISA sponsorship is not available for this position Offers of employment will be conditional based on the successful completion of a background check and verification of official college transcripts Hours for this position are: Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.</p> <p>Provisional appointments may be made to positions in the competitive class if no list of eligible candidates exists.
