Discover your opportunities at Yale!</p> <p>Salary Range</p> <p>0.00 - 0.00</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>Reporting to the Director of Development for Yale College, the Assistant Director of Development, Yale College serves as a key member of the Yale College development team. The team partners with university leadership, faculty, and staff to organize and advance fundraising efforts that support and strengthen the undergraduate experience. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in fundraising activities, overseeing multiple priorities and resources, be a skilled writer/editor, be familiar with relational databases, and excel in working collaboratively across teams. The Assistant Director's key responsibilities include the following:</p> <p>Works with the Director and Yale College leadership-including the Dean of Yale College and members of the Yale College senior management team-to communicate fundraising priorities and help strategize and coordinate individual fundraising work for Yale College. Supports fundraising efforts for the many programs and initiatives that make up the undergraduate experience, including financial aid, residential college life, and student well-being. Partners with colleagues across the Office of Development to design and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies for potential donors, identifying opportunities to align donor interests with institutional priorities. Manages or co-manages various individual prospects who are interested in supporting the College, working in coordination with colleagues across campus. Oversees YaleSOAR (Student Organizations Annual Raise), which strengthens student philanthropy education by building relationships between students and staff, increasing support for extracurricular activities, and creating a unique channel for donors to directly impact student effort. Provides strategic direction, training, and oversight for YaleSOAR, ensuring it supports broader development and engagement goals. Provides high-level strategic thinking, writing, and coordination to enhance the unit's fundraising efforts. Writes and edits a wide range of materials for use in campaign and annual fundraising activities, including proposals, briefings, stewardship pieces, and reports. Builds and maintains strong relationships with Office of Development colleagues and Yale College staff to ensure coordinated and consistent communications. Helps to create and staff development and alumni relations events that advance Yale College fundraising goals. Prepares reports and analyzes data related to development, as directed by the Director and other campus partners. May represent Yale College fundraising programs at Office of Development meetings, reunion gatherings, and other university events.</p> <p>The information provided in the principal responsibilities below is generic in nature; prospective applicants will find the information in this position focus to be most relevant to the position.</p> <p>Required Skills and Abilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Demonstrated fundraising skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information and tailor communications to diverse audiences.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and build strong partnerships across Yale College and the Office of Development. Professionalism, inquisitiveness, mature judgment, discretion, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.</p> </li><li> <p>Outstanding interpersonal skills, with strategic and analytical thinking and persuasive, concise oral and written communication.</p> </li><li> <p>Proven ability to manage competing deadlines while working independently and prioritizing effectively, including an aptitude for analytical tools and quantitative measurements for management, tracking, planning, and communication of progress and effectiveness.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends as needed to accommodate dean/director needs, events, and meetings; occasional U.S. travel required.</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Skills and Abilities:</p> <p>The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in fundraising activities, overseeing multiple priorities and resources, be a skilled writer/editor, be familiar with relational databases, and excel in working collaboratively across teams.</p> <p>Principal Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>Identifies, cultivates and solicits Yale alumni/alumnae and friends who are capable of making gifts to the University. Meets assigned activity and revenue goals. 2. Devises and implements cultivation and solicitation strategies. Evaluates various gift opportunities and giving vehicles; recommends the most suitable for a particular donor. Develops, writes and presents proposals in keeping with university needs and in line with donor's interest and financial situation. 3. Initiates and maintains contact with current, past, and prospective donors, promoting positive donor relations. Engages volunteers proactively as needed. Determines and executes events and programs in support of development activities, assessing the success of such events/programs and recommending changes. Identifies disaffected or disinterested donors and devises strategies to encourage/redirect their interests as appropriate. 4. Interacts with internal contacts such as deans, directors, faculty, officers and other Development staff to consult on University needs, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies, and potential donors. Keeps abreast of University events and disseminates University information to donors, prospective donors, volunteers and team members as appropriate. 5. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree required, a minimum of two years of fundraising experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
