<p>Group Leader (Support & Teaching Assistance) - Job Description</p> <p>Role Overview</p> <p>The Group Leader (Support & Teaching Assistance) plays a crucial role in providing flexible and adaptive support across multiple homerooms and activity areas within the Pegasus Summer Program. This individual assists Activity Leaders, Inclusion Specialists, and program staff in delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate, and inclusive programming.</p> <p>A Group Leader helps wherever additional support is needed, ensuring smooth transitions, staff coverage, and student engagement throughout the day. This role requires adaptability, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Program Support & Implementation</p> <ul> <li>Provide on-demand support to homeroom communities and specialty areas (STEAM, arts, pool time, etc.). </li><li>Assist in implementing daily activities that promote creativity, teamwork, and hands-on learning. </li><li>Ensure safe and efficient transitions between activities, including arrival, lunch, recess, and dismissal. </li><li>Offer one-on-one or small group support for students who need additional assistance. </li><li>Step in as a substitute for Instructors or other staff in case of absences or breaks. </li></ul> <p>Student Supervision & Engagement</p> <ul> <li>Monitor student behavior and engagement, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment. </li><li>Support students with diverse learning needs, including those with IEP accommodations and modifications. </li><li>Provide additional one-on-one or small-group support to students who need it. </li><li>Actively participate in program activities, including recess, water play, field trips, and enrichment sessions. </li><li>Assist with toileting routines, including diaper changes, if needed. </li></ul> <p>Collaboration & Communication</p> <ul> <li>Maintain open and clear communication with Activity Leaders, Inclusion Specialists, and administrative staff. </li><li>Support homeroom teams in addressing student needs and behavioral management strategies. </li><li>Serve as a liaison between program staff and administrative leadership, reporting any concerns or challenges. </li><li>Attend staff meetings and training sessions before and during the program. </li></ul> <p>Program Setup & Closing</p> <ul> <li>Assist in classroom and activity setup, ensuring all spaces are prepared for the day's programming. </li><li>Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment. </li><li>Support end-of-day cleanup and assist in packing and organizing materials at the end of the program. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or higher (college coursework in Education or Child Development preferred). </li><li>Experience working with children in a structured setting (summer camps, after-school programs, classrooms, etc.). </li><li>Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Ability to adapt to changing needs and provide support across multiple areas. </li><li>Experience working with diverse student populations and a commitment to inclusion. </li></ul> <p>Compensation</p> <ul> <li>$21.27 - $26.11 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Must have U.S. citizenship, residency, or a valid work visa. </li><li>Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (C.O.R.I.), Sexual Offender Record Check (S.O.R.I.), and fingerprinting. </li><li>Ability to perform other duties as assigned by the WSCP Coordinator or the Director of Wayland School Community Programs. </li></ul>
