We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive community.</p> <p>Position Title Assistant Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete Services and Success Position Number 897806 Position Category Administration School/Division Student-Athlete Development (division) Department Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description</p> <p>Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance, Diversity, and Inclusion/Senior Woman Administrator and the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete Success, the Assistant Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete Services and Success will oversee initiatives regarding the personal, social, and professional development of student-athletes. All staff members are responsible for complying with the policies and procedures set forth by Hofstra University, the Coastal Athletic Association, the NCAA and the job requirements specific to the particular assignments inherent to athletic administration. This position requires working weekends and holidays and attending athletic events as appropriate.</p> <p>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Serves as department liaison to the Office of Admissions, Office of Residence Life, Hofstra Card Services, Career Center, Student Financial Services, and Division of Student Affairs along with other departments across campus. </li><li>Provides coaches, student-athletes and administrators with a detailed weekly schedule of events and mandatory programs. </li><li>Serves as the advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). </li><li>Collaborates with the Office of Athletic Communication on press releases for all community service/engagement initiatives. </li><li>Coordinates outreach programs, community service/engagement opportunities and professional development programs. </li><li>Represents the department and the University on conference and NCAA committees related to student-athlete matters. Implements a personal development program that incorporates time management, personal development and community service. </li><li>Participates as a coordinator of the Colonel E. David Woycik, Jr. (Ret) Esq. Pride Leadership Academy. </li><li>Consults with coaching staff regarding student-athlete progress, final grades and eligibility; and tracks continuing eligibility and transfer status; maintains information for Academic Progress Rate (APR); provides data for Federal Graduation Rate (FGR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR). </li><li>Develops strong capability in using Navigate retention software and CONNECT for maintaining accurate electronic records on students. </li><li>Collaborates with the Faculty Athletics Representative at multiple levels (i.e., Conference, Provost, College, and School). </li><li>Coordinates and proctors make-up exams (at the direction of faculty) as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Academic Success. </li><li>Monitors assigned student-athletes academic performance, including class schedules of assigned student-athletes and help to resolve any problems or conflicts; monitors study hall requirements; contributes data for mid-semester grade reports; engages in regular contact with the faculty of student-athletes and members of the Student Success Collaborative. </li><li>Assists with NCAA, CAA Conference, and University-wide academic award and recognition nominations for student-athletes as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Academic Success. </li><li>Proactively responds to student, parent, faculty and coach inquiries.
