<p>The ProMedica Finnegan Family Autism Center houses the Autism Early Learning Program (AELP) which offers early intensive behavioral intervention services for children diagnosed with Autism from the age of diagnosis through 6 years old. The program operates year-around with options for full day and partial day services with 1:1 ratios and options for small group as appropriate. Intervention utilizes Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and focuses on addressing skills in the areas of communication/language, play, socialization, behavior, and adaptive skills.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Speech Language Pathologist develops and administers speech-language treatment programs to assist patients with communication, cognitive-linguistic and swallowing disorders in reaching their optimal level of function and independence. Works collaboratively with patient, family members and other team members to design treatment strategies to foster communications and function.</p> <p>Accountabilities</p> <ol> <li> <p>Applies knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates competence, awareness, and sensitivity of the physical, emotional, and socio-psychological needs of the pediatric population.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs appropriate communication, cognitive-linguistic and swallowing evaluations within the established time frame, including appropriate selection, administration and interpretation of standardized and non-standardize assessments using age specific criteria for each age population served, as measured by clinical competencies</p> </li><li> <p>Develops and implements treatment plan according to a valid prescription and in accordance with policies and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with patient/family to establish and provide appropriate treatment plan and goals. Adapts treatment plan as needed to meet the needs of the patient taking into account age and educational level, as measured by competencies.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares and maintains accurate patient care records according to department protocols and demonstrate basic competency for completing accurate billing and electronic documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates knowledge and ability to advocate, communicate and educate patients of all age groups served including those with physical, emotional, language and cognitive impairments, taking into account age and educational level, as measured by competencies.</p> </li><li> <p>Consistently conducts self in a professional manner. Participates in continuing education activities and shares information with staff.
