<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p> <p>The Staff Neurologist will provide our veterans with comprehensive neurological care, both direct and supervisory; including the diagnosis, treatment, and management of neurological conditions. This role will have a home location of either East Orange, NJ or Toms River, NJ; with travel up to 50% and may see veteran patients in East Orange, Toms River, and/or Lyons, NJ.</p> <p>Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure that neurological care is delivered and is consistent with hospital policy, meeting or exceeding community standards and VHA national benchmarks. </li><li>Perform neurological assessments on veteran patients and interpret diagnostic tests such as MRI, CT scans, EEGs, and lumbar punctures. </li><li>Develop individualized treatment plans and provide ongoing patient care, including medication management, physical therapy referrals, and lifestyle counseling. </li><li>Responsibilities include expanded use of clinical video telehealth and electronic consultation (eConsult) to improve access to neurological care. </li><li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date veteran patient records in compliance with VA policies and privacy regulations. </li><li>Collaborate with members of interdisciplinary teams, including primary care physicians, specialists, and nurses, to ensure continuity and high-quality health care for our veterans. </li><li>Contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement projects and assurance programs of Neurology services. </li><li>Champion the initiatives designed to improve overall quality through the use of evidence-based medicine and peer review. </li><li>Participate in regular and continuing education and remain updated on advancements in neurology. </li><li>Educate veteran patients and their families on neurological disorders, treatment options, and preventive measures. </li><li>Provide compassionate and empathetic care to improve the patient experience and ensure that the care of veteran patients is effective, patient-centric, and safe. </li><li>May participate in supervision and teaching in support of the residency program at the East Orange location </li></ul> <p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Contact VISN2EDRPCoordinators@va.gov, the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistance</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)</p> <p>Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided</p> <p>Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting</p> <p>Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm</p>
