STROGER, JR. HOSPITAL</p> <p>DEPARTMENT: FOOD & NUTRUITION SERVICES</p> <p>SHIFT: 12:00PM-8:00PM</p> <p>PAY RANGE: $20.887- $22.174</p> <p>Salary is commensurate with years of experience indicated at time of application submittal. Experience not disclosed or documented at the time of application will not be considered for initial step placement.</p> <p>Job Summary SEIU 73</p> <p>Performs routine duties for patient food services, cafeteria, sanitation support, and special functions requiring food services. Assembles, prepares and distributes food; cleans up, washes dishes and maintains all food service areas in accordance with required sanitation procedures.</p> <p>Typical Duties</p> <ul> <li>Assembles patient trays according to specified diet order. Portions and serves hot and cold food according to standards set by the department. </li><li>Delivers food, supplies, nourishments and patient trays to points of usage. </li><li>Stores food and supplies issued from the storeroom according to department regulations. </li><li>Collects used patient trays and return to the department. </li><li>Performs all routine and special cleaning as assigned, including dishwashing, washing pots and pans, equipment cleaning and sweeping and mopping floors. </li><li>Removes food waste and trash from department areas and kitchen, cafeteria and other dietary areas. </li><li>Disposes of waste according to established procedures. </li><li>Operates pressure cleaning equipment, food blender, vegetable cutting machine, can opener, food brewer, dishwasher and other similar foodservice equipment. </li><li>Operates cash register to record and receive cash sales. </li><li>Follows hospital and department safety and sanitation policies. </li><li>Attends in-service training and other meetings as required by the department and hospital. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or GED equivalent (Must present at time of interview) </li><li>Active Food Handler Certification accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) (Must present at time of interview) </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Previous experience in an institutional foodservice operation </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics</p> <ul> <li>Ability to read and write English </li><li>Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations relating to weights, measures, and tallies </li><li>Ability to operate foodservice equipment </li><li>Ability to work with patients and general public </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics continued</p> <ul> <li>Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time </li><li>Ability to push, pull, reach, lift, stoop, twist and turn frequently </li><li>Ability to lift heavy objects </li></ul> <p>Physical and Environmental Demands</p> <p>This position is functioning within a healthcare environment. The incumbent is responsible for adherence to all hospital and department specific safety requirements. This includes but is not limited to the following policies and procedures: complying with Personal Protective Equipment requirements, hand washing and sanitizing practices, complying with department specific engineering and work practice controls and any other work area safety precautions as specified by hospital wide policy and departmental procedures.</p> <p>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
