<p>General Statement of Duties</p> <p>To perform skilled operation, and maintenance, and installation of heating, ventilating, temperature controls, and air conditioning; to establish and follow a preventive maintenance schedule; and to provide complex technical support to assigned supervisory personnel.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications (KSAs)</p> <p>(Illustrative only. Any one position within this classification may not include all of the KSAs listed not do the listed examples include all of the KSAs which may be performed.)</p> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <p>EPA regulations relating to HVAC</p> <p>Characteristics of electricity; electric and electronic systems related to HVAC</p> <p>Practical mathematics, physics, chemistry; principles of air flow.</p> <p>Refridgeration cycle; combustion principles</p> <p>OSHA safety guidelines; Employee Safety Instruction Manual.</p> <p>City requisition processes.</p> <p>Ability to:</p> <p>Supervise, organize and review the work of lower-level staff.</p> <p>Troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment.</p> <p>Install ducts, piping, equipment.</p> <p>Read drawings and schematics.</p> <p>Create sketches and diagrams as necessary.</p> <p>Properly operate and maintain shop tools and equipment.</p> <p>Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.</p> <p>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including City officials and the general public.</p> <p>Operate assigned vehicle.</p> <p>Examples of Work Performed</p> <p>(Illustrative only. Any one position within this classification may not include all of the duties listed not do the listed examples include all of the tasks which may be performed.)</p> <p>Install and maintain heating systems and air conditioning systems; troubleshoot and make repairs as necessary.</p> <p>Establish and follow a preventive maintenance schedule for assigned equipment; inspect tools regularly; clean tools daily after use; order and maintain supplies.</p> <p>Employ safe work practices; follow safety guidelines established by OSHA and assigned department; follow the Employee Safety Instruction Manual.</p> <p>Develop work plans and schedules for the provision of services.</p> <p>As appropriate, direct or supervise the work of lower level personnel.</p> <p>Review drawings and diagrams; create and update drawings and diagrams as appropriate.</p> <p>Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.</p> <p>Required Education and Experience</p> <p>Four (4) years of paid full time journeyman level experience and four (4) years</p> <p>Apprenticeship level experience in the operation and maintenance of HVAC equipment and controls.</p> <p>A two (2) year educational program in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning at a technical institute or college may be substituted for two (2) years of apprenticeship experience.</p> <p>OTHER REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Commercial Driver's License.</p> <p>MILITARY EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE EVALUATION</p> <p>Military education and experience may be substituted for college level course work at the lower and upper division baccalaureate and graduate levels and apprenticeship training at the vocational certificate level on a case by case basis based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Military Guide recommendations.</p> <p>Additional Exam Information:</p> <p>Credit for Military Service: Special credit for honorable military service is given (1) only to Ohio residents, (2) who successfully complete all portions of the testing process, and (3) who provide Human Resources a long-form copy of your DD-214 confirming an honorable discharge (Character of Service Box 24 on DD-214). Disabled veterans shall receive ten preference points and non-disabled veterans shall receive five preference points. Veteran's points will be added only to passing scores.</p> <p>Background Investigation: A criminal background investigation will be conducted for this position (according to Civil Service Commission Rule 15 - Sensitive Classifications/Positions and the Critical Infrastructure Protection Act of 2001 and the Patriot Act). The purpose is to detect security risks and prevent security threats posed by potential employees.</p> <p>U.S. Citizenship: All positions with the City of Cincinnati require that each applicant be a citizen of the United States or have a valid permanent resident card at the time of appointment (date of hire).</p> <p>HR Contact: Stephanie.Jones@cincinnati-oh.gov</p> <p>Working and Physical Conditions</p> <p>Environmental Conditions: Indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to extremes in weather conditions; exposure to computer screens; work with electrical energy; work on ladders or scaffolds, around moving vehicles or equipment; exposure to dust, cleaners and lubricants, fumes, vibrations, noise.</p> <p>Physical Conditions: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing and walking for prolonged periods of time; moderate and heavy lifting and carrying; pulling, reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling; general manual dexterity required; must be able to distinguish colors; must be able to operate assigned vehicle.</p>
