<p>Position Title Campus Safety Officer - 3rd Shift Department Campus Safety -Group Pay Type Non Exempt Appointment Type (A) Continuing Full-Time Hours Per Week 40 Number of weeks 52 weeks per year other - # of weeks 52 Benefits Eligible Full Benefits Geographical Regional Qualifies for Relocation Reimbursement Work Schedule</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>General Scope of Duties</p> <p>Connecticut College is a highly selective, private, coeducational liberal arts college located in southern New England. Founded in 1911, the College enrolls 1900 students from 42 states and 70 countries. The 750-acre campus is an arboretum, and is supported by a staff and faculty of more than 800. The Campus Safety Department is a 24/7 on campus operation. Under direct supervision, the officers maintain security of persons and property at Connecticut College. Using standard operating procedures as a guide for performing duties, the officers perform routine security and safety patrol duties, remain alert to emergency situations and provide first-line response, and emergency management. As part of our daily operations, all campus Safety Officers will complete rotating shifts in the Dispatch Center. The Dispatcher Center is the 24/7 Communications and Resource Center for the Connecticut College Department of Campus Safety for any services, incidents, or emergencies that occur on campus.</p> <p>General Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Maintain a high level of professionalism, honesty and integrity </li><li>Be courteous and polite in all interaction with the community and perform all duties impartially </li><li>Enforce all College rules and regulations </li><li>Provide physical security of all college buildings, leased buildings, and property on and off campus </li><li>Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols to monitor and respond to security concerns </li><li>Ensure visible presence in key areas, including residential halls, academic/non-academic buildings and common spaces </li><li>Respond appropriately to emergency calls, conduct thorough preliminary investigations, assess situations, and assist or obtain necessary support services </li><li>Prepare detailed reports of all investigations, complaints and calls for service performed </li><li>Transport sick or injured students to the College Student Health Services when necessary </li><li>Recognize and report all unsafe conditions; correct problem or report to responsible personnel </li><li>Identify and remove any unauthorized person or vehicles from college property: including issuing parking tickets and moving violations </li><li>Provide access to Residence Halls and Academic Buildings when necessary </li></ul> <p>Dispatch Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Receive and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls </li><li>Dispatch security personnel to incidents or locations as needed </li><li>Monitor security cameras and alarms </li><li>Maintain communication with on-duty officers </li><li>Coordinate with other campus departments in emergency situations </li><li>Track all activities of each shift: data entry of Daily Patrol Sheets/Activity logs. </li><li>Responsible for key control and maintaining the key log. </li><li>Submit work requests to Facilities Management for issues or problems identified during your shift. </li></ul> <p>Education and Skills</p> <ol> <li> <p>Must be able to work in various positions for extended periods of time - not limited to stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time</p> </li><li> <p>Agility and flexibility to navigate campus terrain and buildings quickly</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to walk up and down multiple flights of stairs</p> </li><li> <p>Be able to work in all weather conditions - when experiencing extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time for long periods of time.</p> </li><li> <p>Good hearing and vision to identify potential threats and respond to alarms or calls: ability to differentiate basic alarm colors: red, yellow and green</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to have full range of upper and lower body motion: able to reach overhead</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to lift, push and pull up 50 lbs. unassisted</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to operate a vehicle</p> </li><li> <p>Physical strength for tasks such as restraining individuals if necessary</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Driving Required Yes Salary Range $21.87 Note</p> <p>Connecticut College is committed to fair and competitive compensation.
