<p>Job Description</p> <p>United States Steel Corporation (USS), since its acquisition by Nippon Steel in June 2025, continues to be a leading steel producer with a proud history of innovation and industry leadership. With over $15 billion in annual revenue and operations in the U.S. and Slovakia our Global Procurement team plays a critical role in sourcing the direct and indirect materials, capex, and services that power our operations.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our Global Procurement team. This pivotal role will lead a team of capital buyers, consultants, and other stakeholders in developing the capital equipment strategy associated with the Nippon/USS transaction. This position will collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to source and manage procurement of high-value capital assets. The ideal candidate will bring at least 10 years of experience in capital equipment procurement within a manufacturing or industrial environment.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Lead a team of procurement professionals and consultants </li><li>Lead the end-to-end procurement process for capital equipment, including RFx development, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and contract execution. </li><li>Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Project Management teams to define technical specifications and procurement timelines. </li><li>Support capital project planning by providing cost estimates, lead time analysis, and supplier capability assessments. </li><li>Develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with corporate objectives and deliver cost savings, quality improvements, and risk mitigation. </li><li>Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance, compliance, and continuous improvement. </li><li>Monitor market trends and emerging technologies to inform sourcing decisions and support innovation. </li><li>Ensure all procurement activities comply with corporate policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field. </li><li>Minimum 3-years' experience leading teams </li><li>10 years of experience in capital equipment procurement, preferably in a heavy industrial or manufacturing setting is preferred. </li><li>Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills. </li><li>Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. </li><li>Job Level and salary will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience supporting capital projects in the steel or metals industry. </li><li>Familiarity with the Nippon/USS transaction or similar M&A-driven capital initiatives. </li><li>Knowledge of global sourcing and supplier qualification processes. </li></ul> <p>Why Join Us?</p> <ul> <li>Be part of a company that values innovation and integrity </li><li>Gain hands-on experience in a transforming procurement organization. </li><li>Work in a collaborative environment with opportunities for growth and development. </li></ul>
