<p>Title: Music Teacher - .7 FTE</p> <p>Location: Nixon Elementary School</p> <p>Reports to: Principal</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Sudbury Public Schools is seeking a qualified Music Teacher to work in grades PreK-5 who will create a safe and welcoming environment for students to learn music. The Music Teacher is responsible for delivering a high quality experience through creativity, resourcefulness and sound judgement consistent with the curriculum frameworks.</p> <ul> <li>Proficient piano or guitar skills desired </li><li>Training in an elementary music methodology is a plus, e.g. Orff, Kodaly, Music Learning TheoryKey </li></ul> <p>Duties & Responsibilities: Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate lessons designed to foster musical development for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students; Communicate with parents and other colleagues regarding students; Plan and assess curriculum and instruction; Mentor students' understanding and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments, when appropriate; Manage classroom environment including communication with classroom teachers as needed; Seek the assistance of district specialists as required regarding the learning disabilities of students; Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement; Differentiate instructions based on student learning needs; Collaborate toward school-wide activities and performances (assemblies, musicals, theatre, etc.); Foster student interest in and understanding of music; Perform other related duties as assigned.</p> <p>Classification: SEA Unit Position</p> <p>Schedule: 183 days (.7 FTE) or prorated based on FTE schedule</p> <p>Salary: Commensurate with education and experience based on the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.</p> <p>Hiring is contingent upon a successful CORI and fingerprinting clearance.
