There are four (4) methods by which candidates may meet the qualification requirements for the Electronics Technician Trainee GS-7 position:</p> <p>Method 1 - Education in Basic Electronics:</p> <p>To qualify based on education, you must have completed six (6) credit hours in basic electronics. Hours can be obtained in one or more of the following courses:</p> <ul> <li>Electronics Fundamentals </li><li>Introduction to Electronics </li><li>Concepts of Direct Current </li><li>Concepts of Alternating Current </li><li>AC/DC Fundamentals </li><li>Electronic Circuits </li><li>Digital Electronics (Fundamentals) </li><li>Solid State Devices </li><li>Concepts of Solid State Electronics </li><li>Circuit Analysis </li><li>Applied Electronics </li><li>Microprocessors/Microcontrollers </li><li>Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) </li><li>Automatic Control Systems </li><li>Integrated Circuits </li><li>Controls and Automation </li><li>Analog Integrated Electronics </li><li>Power Semiconductor Electronics </li><li>Introduction to Embedded Systems </li></ul> <p>All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.</p> <p>Method 2 - Radio Experience:</p> <p>To qualify based on radio experience, you must have either one OR two years of SE as listed below:</p> <ul> <li>One year of SE: SE must be with Motorola Radio in RF, Infrastructure Maintenance, Subscriber Devices, and/or Tactical Communications; or </li><li>Two years of SE: SE can be with any radio brand in RF, Infrastructure Maintenance, Subscriber Devices, and/or Tactical Communications. </li></ul> <p>Method 3 - Data Network Experience:</p> <p>To qualify based on data network experience, you must have either one OR two years of SE as listed below:</p> <ul> <li>One year of SE: SE must be with Cisco switch and router programming in network infrastructure, network maintenance, and/or telecommunications; or </li><li>Two years of SE: SE can be with any switch and router programming brand in network infrastructure, network maintenance, and/or telecommunications. </li></ul> <p>Method 4 - Physical Security Systems Experience:</p> <p>To qualify based on physical security systems experience, you must have two years of SE as described below:</p> <ul> <li>Two years of SE: SE must be in alarm installation, access control installation, security programming, and/or video security system installation. </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <p>Please see above for Education requirements.</p> <p>Additional information</p> <p>To attract and retain highly qualified candidates, selectees may be eligible for a recruitment incentive of up to 20% or, for eligible current federal employees, a relocation incentive of up to 15%. Eligibility for a relocation incentive requires proof of a change in residence and an assignment at a worksite in a different geographic area greater than or equal to 50 miles from the prior worksite. Employees must sign a written service agreement completing a specified period of employment with the FBI at the new duty station.
