Join us and learn more at www.kodatech.com.</p> <p>Position Overview:</p> <p>KODA Technologies is seeking an FPGA Software Engineer to support the Orion spacecraft, NASA's crewed exploration vehicle designed to take humans to the Moon and beyond.</p> <p>This engineer will contribute to the design, development, and verification of FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array)-based systems that support avionics, data handling, communications, and fault management subsystems. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to implement hardware-accelerated logic, integrate flight software interfaces, and contribute to verification and validation efforts in a mission-critical environment.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Design, simulate, and implement FPGA-based designs for flight-critical systems using VHDL or Verilog </li><li>Integrate FPGA logic with embedded flight software and spacecraft systems </li><li>Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to develop interface requirements and timing constraints </li><li>Create testbenches and perform simulation, synthesis, place-and-route, and timing analysis </li><li>Support lab testing, hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) environments, and formal verification campaigns </li><li>Document architecture, implementation, and verification artifacts for flight certification </li><li>Contribute to FPGA/ASIC design processes </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>5+ years of relevant experience. </li><li>B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline </li><li>Experience in FPGA design using VHDL or Verilog </li><li>Experience with FPGA toolchains such as Vivado, Quartus, Synplify, or ModelSim </li><li>Understanding of digital design fundamentals, including state machines, timing closure, and bus protocols (e.g., AXI, SPI, I2C) </li><li>Familiarity with simulation and verification tools and processes </li><li>Working knowledge of embedded systems and software-hardware integration </li><li>U.S. Citizenship </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in spaceflight systems or high-reliability aerospace applications </li><li>Familiarity with DO-254 (Design Assurance Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware) </li><li>Experience with Radiation-Hardened (Rad-Hard) FPGA design </li><li>Prior work with Xilinx (AMD), Microsemi, or Intel (Altera) FPGAs </li><li>Lab experience with hardware bring-up, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG interfaces </li><li>Understanding of fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) systems </li><li>Familiarity with real-time software and RTOS environments </li><li>Background with C or C++ for embedded systems </li></ul> <p>Clearance: U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.</p> <p>KODA Technologies Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, status as a parent, national origin, disability (physical or mental), family medical history or genetic information, political affiliation, military service, or other non-merit based factors.
