<p>Job Title Service and Justice Coordinator Department Moreau Center Terms and Hours 5-10 hrs per week Job Category Student Stipend Hourly Wage Room and Board Remission (Scholarship) Job Summary</p> <p>Service and Justice Coordinators (SJCs) facilitate opportunities to engage members of the on campus community on issues of social, environmental, and economic justice. Through their collaboration with other Moreau Center leaders and staff, various student clubs and groups, SJCs provide direct service opportunities- connecting students with people and communities beyond campus- as well as education and advocacy opportunities for students to engage social justice issues in intentional and reflective ways. SJCs are a vital link between the campus community and off-campus community.</p> <p>Core Duties</p> <ul> <li>Plan, promote, and lead 1-2 service opportunities each semester </li><li>Collaborate with co-SJCs and other UP or community group to plan, promote, and lead 1-2 social justice engagement events each semester. </li><li>Engage in one planning session at the beginning of each semester with all MCSJ student leaders </li><li>Attend weekly one-on-one meeting with Program Manager for Social Justice Education program for advising, support in planning, and formation. </li><li>Create and carry out events throughout the Academic Year that focus on a student selected, MCSJ approved, social justice theme </li><li>Dedicate time weekly to planning engagement events, creating market materials, tabling on campus, recruitment, and/or outreach </li><li>Participate in weekend Moreau Center leader training throughout the academic year </li><li>Serve as small group leader for campus events for social justice such as MLK Day On, and the National Racial Day of Healing </li><li>Other relevant duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Enthusiasm to invite and engage UP peers in social justice learning, community engagement opportunities, and reflection. </li><li>Desire to deepen understanding of personal identity and its intersections with social justice issues. </li><li>Eagerness to engage with Portland community partners through service and solidarity. </li><li>Openness to facilitate critical reflection with peers. </li><li>Desire to collaborate with fellow SJCs, UP clubs, Moreau Center staff, academic programs, other relevant on-campus groups, and community partners. </li><li>Curious learner with growth mindset. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written communications </li><li>Experience leading groups </li><li>Experience with event planning </li><li>Experience with social media and online platforms </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Posting Detail Information</p> <p>Posting Number SE975-2023 Number of Vacancies Multiple Estimated Start Date 08/19/2026 Open Date 04/14/2026 Close Date 10/01/2026</p>
