<p>Install, repair and maintain electrical fixtures and equipment including heating and air conditioning systems, fire alarm systems, motor and ventilation systems, lighting, and generators. This is skilled work in the installation and repair of electrical fixtures and equipment.</p> <ul> <li>Ensure safety of students </li><li>Recommend needed equipment for district </li><li>Keep maintenance records accurate and up-to-date </li><li>Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy </li><li>Maintain respect at all time for confidential information (e.g. employee records, personnel records) </li><li>Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents </li><li>Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation </li><li>Locate and secure needed parts and supplies </li><li>Submit all forms and reports required </li><li>Assist in maintaining a program of preventative maintenance </li><li>Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams, and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service or replace electric devices and systems </li><li>Start up and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA requirements for machine activation and shutdown </li><li>Perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical fixtures such as: lights, convenience outlets, conduit, security lighting, bell systems, fire alarm systems, score boards, etc. </li><li>Maintain electrical and electronic controls of heating and air handling equipment such as: boilers, furnaces, air conditioning units, heat pumps, circulating pumps, clocks, etc. </li><li>Perform work assignments from written and/or oral instructions, including blueprints or sketches </li><li>Install, maintain, and repair generators, motors including three phase, switchboards, lights, various buzzer systems, clocks, and heater units including boilers, limit controls, and ignition </li><li>Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment </li><li>Assist in installation of new machinery and new service lines </li><li>Install and repair fire alarms </li><li>Perform routine service and cleaning of motors and starters and unit heaters </li><li>Assist other craftsmen in general building maintenance by performing the less difficult tasks </li><li>Supervise employees of lower grade </li><li>Purchase all materials and supplies needed for the electrical system </li><li>Attend meetings, seminars and staff training and development as required </li><li>Schedule repairs, installation and electrical inspection work to be performed </li><li>Install, repair, and maintain communication cables, power distribution cables, then splice pieces as required </li><li>Perform related duties as assigned by the Electric Foreman </li></ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li> <p>Graduation from an accredited High School or G.E.D.</p> </li><li> <p>A minimum of three (3) years paid experience in the commercial or industrial electrical trade at the journeyman level.</p> </li><li> <p>Valid current State of Ohio Driver's License.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work effectively with others.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to listen effectively and actively.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to problem solve.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of electricity, needed parts, supplies and general maintenance.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings and labels.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes (i.e. Ohio State Electrical Code and Underwriters Rules), properties of materials and principles of operation of electrical equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of basic computer skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work independently.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams and blueprints.</p> </li></ul> <p>This is a classified position. </p> <p>The selection process will consist of a competitive examination with credit for education and experience. A passing score must be obtained on the competitive examination in order to receive credit for education and experience. TEST WEIGHTS: Competitive Examination 70%, Education 20%, Experience 10%. </p> <p>Candidates must meet the qualifications and requirements listed in the announcement at the time of examination and at the time of appointment.</p> <p>NOTE: The competitive examination may be suspended if shown to be impractical because of an insufficient number of qualified candidates. The candidates will then be ranked in a standard manner based on 70% for qualifying, 20% for education, and 10% for experience.</p> <p>VETERANS: A veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States, honorably discharged from active duty, desiring a bonus of 5 points added to his/her passing grade, must submit proof of discharge in the form of a DD-214 with application.</p> <p>DRIVER S LICENSE: An applicant having a valid driver's license from another state will be accepted conditionally provided that, if selected, an Ohio Driver's License must be obtained prior to appointment.
