This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our growing Data Science and Analytics program and serve as a vital link between our students and industry. We welcome applicants from a broad range of data science specialty areas. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and academic credentials. The anticipated hire start date is August 2026.</p> <p>In addition to teaching a variety of undergraduate courses, the successful candidate will play a critical leadership role in the development and growth of our Data Science and Analytics curriculum and student outcomes. They will also collaborate with the Career Center to help establish industry partnerships and serve as a mentor to students pursuing careers in data science and analytics. The university offers teaching support through the Office of Teaching Innovation and Enrichment.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>The successful candidate will play a critical leadership role in the development and growth of our Data Science and Analytics curriculum and student outcomes, including:</p> <ul> <li>Teach a variety of undergraduate courses. Potential courses include data mining, big data and cloud computing, or agentic development. </li><li>Assist with crafting and implementing a vision for the Data Science and Analytics program, guiding its strategic direction and evolution. </li><li>Keep up to date on trends in Data Science & Machine Learning, given traditional DS techniques are being handled by AI (e.g. exploratory data analysis, outlier detection, etc.). </li><li>Collaborate with the Career Center to help establish industry partnerships, serving as a key industry liaison to facilitate internships and career opportunities for students. </li><li>Mentor and advise students pursuing careers in data science and analytics. </li><li>Contribute to departmental and university service, including participating in cross-university data initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A Master's degree in a related field. </li><li>Experience communicating findings effectively in the professional world. </li><li>Interest and enthusiasm in working with undergraduate students in a liberal arts environment. </li><li>Familiarity with strong pedagogical practices, including active learning approaches. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Prior teaching experience as an instructor of record at the undergraduate level. </li><li>Industry experience in data science or an adjacent analytical field. </li><li>Evidence of effective teaching, training, or mentoring at the college level or in professional settings. </li></ul> <p>Normal Work Location, Hours and Conditions</p> <p>This position teaches in person from our campus in University Heights, Ohio. University core business hours are generally 8:30 am - 5 pm.
