<p>Description and Functions</p> <p>Open Until Filled</p> <p>GENERAL DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>As a Radiological Calibrations Technician, you will be responsible for performing routine and as-needed calibration, functional testing, and documentation of radiological detection and measurement equipment instruments that are part of the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security Radiological Program. This role ensures that equipment used in radiological safety, emergency response, and monitoring remains accurate and compliant with regulatory standards.</p> <p>Human Resource Contact: Nicki Reitmeyer 307-777-6219nicki.reitmeyer@wyo.gov</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.</p> <ul> <li>Calibrating radiation detection equipment includes dosimeters and survey meters. </li><li>Maintain accurate records of calibration results, certifications, and maintenance logs. </li><li>Identify equipment that is out of specifications and recommend service. </li><li>Coordinate with partners to schedule calibrations with minimal disruptions to their operations. </li><li>Track the inventory of all radiological equipment owned by the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security and monitor the calibration status of each item. </li><li>Maintain calibration lab equipment and perform required testing of the lab itself. </li><li>Provide basic user training in all equipment when needed. </li><li>Assist with Preventative Radiological and Nuclear Detection (PRND) Missions. To include maintaining readiness, transporting, deploying, monitoring, and demobilizing equipment. </li><li>Assist with transporting, deploying, and demobilization equipment, as needed, during emergency responses. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>PREFERENCES:</p> <p>FEMA courses. ICS 100, 200, 700, 800</p> <p>National Incident Management System (NIMS) for Resource Management and Incident Command Operations training.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE:</p> <ul> <li>Working knowledge of Federal and State radiological rules and guidelines. </li><li>Working knowledge or training in radiation safety, including handling of sealed sources and radioactive materials per OSHA and NRC guidelines. </li><li>Experience in the use of diagnostic tools. </li><li>Understanding of radiation detection principles. </li><li>Working knowledge of the National Incident Management (NIMS) and knowledge of general government processes at all levels. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>0-2 years of progressive work experience in firefighter, hazardous materials specialist, radiological technician or radiation worker.</p> <p>OR</p> <p>Education & ExperienceSubstitution:</p> <p>3-5 years of progressive work experience in firefighter, hazardous materials specialist, radiological technician or radiation worker.</p> <p>Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:</p> <p>None</p> <p>Necessary Special Requirements</p> <p>PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Working in a controlled indoor radiological calibration lab (standing,sitting). </li><li>Work involves regular handling or proximity to sealed radioactive sources. </li><li>Safety measures are in place to minimize exposures, and dosimeters are worn daily. </li><li>May be required to lift equipment over 25 pounds. </li></ul> <p>NOTES:</p> <ul> <li>FLSA: Non-Exempt </li><li>This is a part-time position. </li><li>Successful applicants for employment must pass a limited criminal background investigation. </li><li>Additional certifications and/or licenses may be required by the agency. </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>001-Homeland Security</p> <p>Clickhere to view the State of Wyoming Classification and Pay Structure.</p> <p>URL: http://agency.governmentjobs.com/wyoming/default.cfm</p> <p>The State of Wyoming is an Equal Opportunity Employer and actively supports the ADA and reasonably accommodates qualified applicants with disabilities.</p> <p>Class Specifications are subject to change, please refer to the A & I HRD Website to ensure that you have the most recent version.</p>
