<p>Position Type:</p> <p>K-12/Certified Teaching Assistant</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>6/4/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Crompond School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>09/01/2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>Until Filled</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>CERTIFIED TEACHING ASSISTANT</p> <p>Minimum Starting Range = $18.93 - $25.18</p> <p>Job Title: Certified Teaching Assistant Job Category: CTA/TA Contract Department/Group: Job Description Job Summary: Certified Teaching Assistants (CTAs) provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a Certified Teacher.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>NYSD Certification as a Level I Teaching Assistant (Must obtain Level III within 4 years of appointment. Recommendations for extension of Level I will only be made if all requirements for Level II have been met except the required work experience). </li><li>Completion of required state workshops, IE. Child Abuse Detection & Reporting, School Violence Prevention, and DASA. </li></ul> <p>Primary Activities</p> <ul> <li>Work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects. </li><li>Provide the teacher with information about students which will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiences. </li><li>Assist students in the use of available instructional resources, and assist in the development of instructional materials. </li><li>Utilize own special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as: foreign languages, arts, crafts, music and similar subjects. </li><li>Assist in related instructional work as required. </li><li>Assist students with specific health related activities as appropriate. </li><li>Maintains instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records (e.g. lessons, attendance, pencils, paper, teaching supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing written reports, or meeting mandated requirements. </li><li>Performs general clerical tasks for the purpose of helping the teacher get instructional materials ready. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to carry out instruction furnished in written or oral form. </li><li>Abilty to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications. </li><li>Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals. </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others. </li><li>Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work. </li><li>Ability to report work orally and in writing to supervisor as required. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee:</p> <ul> <li>is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit. </li><li>Is regularly required to climb, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and to reach above the head and reach forward. </li><li>Is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls and to talk and hear. </li><li>Occasionally required to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Must have specific vision abilities for close vision, distance vision, depth perception and tell the difference between colors </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <ul> <li>The noise level in the work environment is typical for a school environment. </li><li>Work generally performed indoors with limited outside supervision of students. </li></ul>
