The Engine Division of Kawasaki Motors Corp, headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI has an opening for a Test Engineer based in Grand Rapids, MI.</p> <p>We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Test Engineer to join our team who assists in designing and conducting tests to evaluate current and future products. This position contributes to engineering project success by applying technical knowledge and remaining up to date with current industry standards.</p> <p>With limited supervision, the Test Engineer will:</p> <ul> <li>Debug and isolate issues, gather technical information, and provide feedback to R&D peers. </li><li>Identify new equipment or testing systems needed; assess cost, lead times, installation, and verification with moderate assistance. </li><li>Serve as a liaison between design engineering, product improvement, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to determine testing needs. </li><li>Verify that existing test equipment meets project requirements and raise budget concerns as necessary. </li><li>Provide training and mentorship to Test Technicians and less experienced engineers. </li><li>Support real-time production testing through hands-on troubleshooting and upgrades. </li><li>Contribute to the design, development, integration, and validation of both automated and manual test equipment. </li><li>Interpret test requirements, update procedures, and produce detailed reports and documentation. </li><li>Interface with customers, vendors, and internal teams during field service trips and project meetings. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field </li><li>Minimum of 4 years of experience in product development and/or testing </li><li>Intermediate understanding of 4-cycle spark-ignited internal combustion engines </li><li>Proficiency with instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and data analysis </li><li>Experience with engine dynamometer testing </li><li>Strong project management and product development knowledge </li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel </li><li>Some experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with emissions equipment, emissions data analysis, and regulatory testing for small spark-ignited engines </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams </li><li>Excellent communication skills and attention to detail </li></ul> <p>Who We Are:</p> <p>The Engine Division of Kawasaki Motors Corp, headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI supports 4 cycle engines commonly used in the lawn and garden industry.
