<p>Welcome to the SLCC Community!</p> <p>If you value recreation & the scenic beauty of nature, along with a strong Community Foundation; Salt Lake Community College is the place for you.</p> <p>Under general supervision the instructor you will teach various classes in nursing skills to Associate Degree and Practical Nursing students. In these programs, you will prepare students to qualify for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) which will qualify graduates as health care providers in their prospective level of preparation. As a Faculty member, you may be assigned to any SLCC location.</p> <p>Essential Responsibilities and Duties</p> <p>Responsibilities & Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Prepare and teach nursing classes and strive for excellence. </li><li>Demonstrate distinctive promise as a teacher with expected pursuit of excellence in teaching. </li><li>Be willing to use a variety of modern teaching technologies including the use of computers and multi-media in lectures, laboratories, and distance learning environments. </li><li>Participate in professional or occupational development. </li><li>Provide leadership and professional contributions to the Department, Division, School and College. </li><li>Maintain and pursue additional creditable academic degrees and/or certificates in one's chosen field of professional responsibility. </li><li>Maintain depth of understanding in the chosen field and contribute to current knowledge of the discipline. </li><li>Maintain positive attitude toward work, students, colleagues and administration. </li><li>Encourage community service and involvement. </li><li>Prepare course outlines, daily plans and associated materials. </li></ul> <p>Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued</p> <p>Responsibilities & Duties Cont.:</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the development of new courses and in the upgrading of current courses and programs, including competency-based education. </li><li>Assist new and continuing students in an advisement capacity on courses and programs. </li><li>Attend regularly scheduled meetings and workshops and participate in committee assignments. </li><li>Work with concurrently enrolled students and faculty and develop and maintain articulation agreements with local applied technology centers and universities. </li><li>Assist and advise students in professional and student organizations. </li><li>Work toward the attainment of credible academic degrees in the nursing field. </li><li>Maintain regular office hours and be available to provide help for students. </li><li>Be willing to learn and use the Electronic Media. </li><li>Attendance at New Faculty Orientation sessions required. </li><li>Accept other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>All Faculty will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences.</p> <p>All SLCC employees must maintain permanent residence/address within the State of Utah to maintain employment. A permanent Utah address must be recorded to Human Resources within 30-days of your employment start date.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university or progress towards completion of a Master's degree in Nursing. Three years current nursing practice in a variety of settings. </li><li>Six (6) years recent successful full-time paid clinical experience in a health care facility or nurse educator experience preferred. </li><li>RN currently registered in Utah or eligible for current licensure in Utah required. </li><li>Teaching or extensive clinical experience preferred. </li><li>Preference will be given to strong medical/surgical high facuity nursing experience </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Six (6) years recent successful full-time paid clinical experience in a health care facility or nurse educator experience preferred. </li><li>Teaching or extensive clinical experience preferred. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</p> <p>KSA's:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, culture, ethnic background, and abilities, to maintain good working relationships across the College </li><li>Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, </li><li>cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities </li></ul> <p>Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties Special Instructions</p> <p>Priority Review Date: May 12, 2025:</p> <p>Applications received by this date will have first consideration.
