<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Environmental Process and Documentation Chief performs highly responsible administrative and managerial work involving the development, implementation and evaluation of important programs, policies, budget initiatives and organizational changes affecting the Department's transportation engineering programs. This position is responsible for coordinating activities and communicating effectively with numerous and diverse constituencies, including the legislature, the public, local units of government, contractors and industry representatives, the media, other state agencies, federal regulatory agencies, other WisDOT managers and FHWA. These program interrelationships are extremely diverse and complex. The effective management of these relationships requires a thorough understanding of technical environmental issues, environmental regulations, historical and cultural resource policies and communications strategies.</p> <p>To review the full position description, please email Sonam Lhanze at sonam1.lhanze@dot.wi.gov</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>This position is in schedule-range (81-02) with an annual salary of $101,920 - $122,221, plus excellent benefits. A 2 year career executive trial period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>This state agency does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.</p> <p>Prior to any appointments for position(s) filled from this announcement, candidates may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check which may include FBI fingerprinting.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience or training in a program area which includes at least one of the following: National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Process, Cultural Resources, Environmental Policy.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience collaborating with a diverse group of internal and external partners</p> </li><li> <p>Experience leading a team of professional staff in formal or informal capacity. (Activities may include coaching, mentoring, reviewing/analyzing workloads, directing work, assessing employee performance, motivating staff/team.)</p> </li><li> <p>Experience prioritizing and coordinating multiple work assignments concurrently.</p> </li></ul> <p>In addition to having all the above, well qualified applicants will have experience with one or more of the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience managing multiple transportation program areas including two or more of the following: National Environmental Policy Act NEPA) Process, Cultural Resources, Environmental Policy.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience supervising or managing a team of professional staff.
