This on-site position requires a professional who is adept at providing exceptional end-user customer service ensuring timely and effective resolution of technical issues, and technical support for both Mac and PC environments. The ideal candidate will have excellent troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of network fundamentals.</p> <p>This is an ON-SITE position</p> <p>About UIT: University Information Technology (UIT), the central IT service provider for the University of Utah, reports to the U's Chief Information Officer and is responsible for many of the U's shared IT services including the wired and wireless network; Campus Information Services (CIS) portal; UMail, telephone, and online collaboration; digital learning technologies; information security; software licensing; and a host of other IT systems and services.</p> <p>About the University of Utah: Located in Salt Lake City, the U is the flagship institution of the State of Utah's system of higher education, home to arts and museum venues and a member of the BIG-12 Conference. Salt Lake City is home to the Utah Symphony and Opera, Ballet West, professional sports teams, and a wide range of other cultural and recreational activities.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Information Technology Specialist II</p> <ul> <li>Image, configure, deploy and support desktop, laptop, iPad, software/operating systems, disk storage connectivity, etc. </li><li>Configure and support conference room and other technologies for specialized areas of support including classrooms or labs </li><li>Configure and support plotter and other printers. </li><li>Manage and setup shared licensing software. </li><li>Manage and maintain Microsoft Windows and Mac OS systems. </li><li>Track and document problems, issues, settings and solutions for IT systems. </li><li>Review and create system process and procedure documentation. </li><li>Perform inventory and retirement processes. </li><li>Assess IT and technology needs, offering improvements and solutions as necessary </li><li>Utilize device management systems and approved standards and processes. </li><li>Utilize the department ticketing system to track work tickets and time. </li><li>Troubleshoot client, systems for problem resolution. </li><li>Assist with network documentation, configuration, routing and securing. </li><li>Work as a team member as well as autonomously. </li><li>Travel on and off campus locations using personal vehicle for IT support and equipment transport. </li><li>Manage building access for staff and students. </li><li>Provide training for staff. </li><li>Follow University and departmental processes, procedures, guidelines, etc. </li><li>On call support and maintenance activities.
