We are looking for a construction engineer with a background in highway/roadway, bridge, sewer/water, and transit construction. You'll join our Chicago based team to provide construction engineering and inspection services on various infrastructure projects in northeast or north central Illinois, as well as southeast Wisconsin. Responsibilities of this position may include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Reporting to and supporting the Resident Engineer or Project Manager </li><li>Working independently to manage and complete assigned tasks. </li><li>Review and understanding of construction plans, specifications, submittals, and contract documents </li><li>Perform daily inspections to verify that the Contractor work is being completed in accordance with the contract documents </li><li>Prepare daily construction reports that identify the contractor workforce, equipment, and activities, site visitors, and includes daily progress photos </li><li>Prepare regular status reports and maintain current and accurate record drawings. </li><li>Keep Resident Engineer (RE)/Project Manager informed of the Contractor's progress and activities. </li><li>Review contractor QC documentation and checklists </li><li>Document meeting minutes </li><li>Review inspector daily reports and material documentation </li><li>Maintain the project quantity book </li><li>Report and document any field conditions that deviate from the Contract </li></ul> <p>In this role, you'll also communicate with all members of the Jacobs team, client, and contractor and work together to mitigate or eliminate project risks. You'll be accountable for interacting with our construction sites, clients, and management to support the project team. Your keen ability to communicate effectively and maintain organized documentation records will be key to tackling project challenges. Working together, we'll help you design your career and pursue what fulfills you so that we can make impacts on the future - big and small, global and local.</p> <p>#LI-LM1236</p> <p>Here's what you'll need</p> <ul> <li>4 - 8 years of experience in water/sewer, roadway, bridge and/or transit construction engineering and inspection services </li><li>Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related discipline </li><li>Local to and ability to commute to/from project locations in northeastern Illinois or southeastern Wisconsin </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook </li><li>Working knowledge/experience utilizing project management software such as eBuilder, InEight or CMMS </li><li>Excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills </li></ul> <p>Ideally, you'll also have:</p> <ul> <li>Current IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification </li><li>Experience on Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), Chicago Department of Water Management (CDOWM), Metra and/or Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) projects </li><li>Experience on Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) projects </li><li>OSHA 10- or 30- hour training </li><li>Engineer in Training-EIT certification </li><li>Ability and desire to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) </li><li>Proficiency with Bluebeam </li><li>Working knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Project </li></ul> <p>Posted Salary Range: Minimum</p> <p>80,000.00</p> <p>Posted Salary Range: Upper</p> <p>119,925.00</p> <p>Our health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about.
