<p>Mechanical Designer - Heavy Industrial / Piping</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer with strong 3D modeling and piping design expertise to support complex projects across utility, industrial, water/wastewater, oil & gas, and power & energy facilities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative engineering environment, enjoys owning design packages, and is ready to help grow a high-performing design team.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Perform discipline-specific mechanical and piping design with minimal supervision from technical staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Own and develop the discipline BIM model in alignment with project scope, Digital Delivery Plans (DDP), and required Levels of Development (LOD).</p> </li><li> <p>Produce high-quality mechanical and piping designs using CADD tools for industrial, utility, and institutional power & energy facilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare construction-ready deliverables, including:</p> </li><li> <p>Site layout drawings and equipment arrangements</p> </li><li> <p>P&IDs</p> </li><li> <p>Piping isometrics, orthographic drawings, and section views</p> </li><li> <p>Composite arrangement drawings</p> </li><li> <p>Bills of material, sketches, lists, and other detailed documentation</p> </li><li> <p>Route piping in 2D and 3D environments using AutoCAD, CADWorx, AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD P&ID, Navisworks, and LiDAR data.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate closely with electrical, structural, civil, and other disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.</p> </li><li> <p>Apply strong knowledge of engineering planning, drafting, detailing, and construction document production.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain high standards for model health, document accuracy, and quality control.</p> </li><li> <p>Support team collaboration by mentoring junior designers and working closely with engineers and project managers.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in design reviews and 3D coordination processes.</p> </li><li> <p>Potential to lead multidisciplinary design teams and CAD staff on detailed design projects.</p> </li></ul> <p>Required Skills & Experience</p> <ul> <li> <p>5-10 years of mechanical or piping design experience in heavy industrial environments.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in Plant 3D or CADWorx (Plant 3D preferred if CADWorx is not available).</p> </li><li> <p>Strong experience in mechanical drawings, piping systems, and industrial facility design.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with:</p> </li><li> <p>P&IDs</p> </li><li> <p>Site layouts</p> </li><li> <p>Equipment arrangements</p> </li><li> <p>Piping isometrics and orthographic drawings</p> </li><li> <p>Composite arrangement drawings</p> </li><li> <p>Industry experience in heavy industrial, water/wastewater, oil & gas, utilities, or power & energy facilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Advanced skillset in 3D design software and document management systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Competency with Microsoft Office and communication tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Solid understanding of engineering or architectural concepts, industry standards, and discipline codes.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Technical degree (Associate's in CAD, Drafting, or related field) or equivalent industry experience. </li><li>Experience with BIM workflows and LOD requirements. </li><li>Familiarity with utility and institutional power & energy facility design. </li></ul> <p>Why You Should Be Interested</p> <ul> <li>Clear growth path to Sr. Designer. </li><li>Opportunity to help build and shape the Denver industrial design team. </li><li>Leadership opportunities on multidisciplinary projects. </li><li>Hybrid schedule (3-4 days in office; 4 preferred for less experienced designers). </li><li>Strong backlog of work supporting multiple utilities and industrial clients. </li><li>Full paid health benefits and premium benefits package. </li><li>401(k) match and long-term development programs. </li><li>Large, stable firm with high average tenure and diverse project portfolio. </li></ul> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denver, CO.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $55.05/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
