<p>The Northbridge Public School District is seeking day-to-day substitute school nurses for all levels - Northbridge Elementary School (preschool through grade 5), Northbridge Middle School (grades 6-8) and Northbridge High School (grades 9-12). The School Nurse is tasked with maximizing the educational experience for every student by minimizing illness-related absences and promoting an environment of health and wellness. QUALIFICATIONS: Valid MA license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), required; Valid MA license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Massachusetts, preferred; Valid certifications in CPR, First Aid and AED; Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college/university, required Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college/university, preferred; Possession of MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) School Nurse license, all levels, preferred; Knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA regulations; Experience as a registered nurse working with school-aged children, preferred; Experience monitoring juvenile diabetics, pediatric tracheostomies, and GI tube feedings; Proactively approach others with a view to engage in dialogue and build strong working relationships; Demonstrate good judgment, approachable and professional, solid problem solving skills, self-motivated, well organized</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES (including, but not limited to): Provide medically prescribed interventions including medication administration (based on state regulations) and nursing procedures and provides nursing care to the chronically ill children; Provide consultation on school health issues, both clinical and management, to parents, students, school administrators, school nurses, school physicians, local boards of health, health educators, teachers, counselors, municipal agents, health care providers, etc.; Act as liaison between school, home, and community agencies in improving the health of school children; Implement Individualized Health Care Plans, Section 504 Plans and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with specialized health care needs Maintain comprehensive school health records, including maintaining an electronic log of the day's medical treatments; Assist in the prevention and control of illness including communicable disease and other infections; Communicate, collaborate, and consult with parents/guardians and staff, regarding the health needs/concerns of students; Communicate and consult with students' physicians; Perform required health screenings and document results; Ability to lift up to 40 pounds; Maintain appropriate nursing and DESE licensures and certifications; Perform other professional duties which the Building Principal or Director of Pupil Personnel Services may require</p>
