<p>Summary: Provides psychoeducational services to students with disabilities within local public and nonpublic schools, assists with the development of plans which enable children to attain achievement standards and independent skills.</p> <p>Qualifications, Education and Licensure: The Educational Diagnostician must be able to perform the attached essential job functions and satisfactorily demonstrate the competencies for certified staff. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree in Special Education </li><li>Minimum of 5 years successful special education teaching experience </li><li>Hold and Maintain current licensure that includes at least three disability areas, with a minimum of Learning Disabilities, Mild Cognitive Disabilities and Emotional Disabilities in the State of Indiana </li><li>Possess a basic knowledge of special education laws and regulations and can follow developed procedures. </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following:</p> <ul> <li>Conducts diagnostic evaluations to identify students' needs, potential and limitations by: </li><li>observing in classrooms and/or in social situations, </li><li>reviewing all pertinent school records, </li><li>consulting with parents and school personnel, </li><li>administering diagnostic instruments, </li><li>interpreting the results and </li><li>collaborating with school staff on the development and writing of the IEP. </li><li>As Case Manager in a building, the Educational Diagnostician serves in a leadership role to: </li><li>initiate the referral process, </li><li>facilitate the record review, and </li><li>collaborate on decision with the intervention and/or evaluation process. </li><li>Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary team for students undergoing an evaluation and coordinates resources to assure a comprehensive educational evaluation is completed. </li></ul> <ol start="4"> <li>Participates on the intervention team(s) for at-risk students considered for an evaluation. Work collaboratively with the Building Principal as Case Manager to determine the need to be involved in Response to Instruction/Intervention (RtI) planning and meetings. </li></ol> <ul> <li>Limited involvement at Tier 1. </li><li>As appropriate involvement in initial RTI meetings. </li><li>As a student nears the end of Tier 2 and is moving to Tier 3, attend the meeting if you are case manager in the building. </li><li>Fully participate in Tier 3 meetings. Provide input on data analysis and assist with identifying next steps. </li><li>Provides diagnostic information to assist pupils to achieve personal academic, social and emotional growth. </li><li>Utilizes research to aid in identifying appropriate techniques and services to meet student needs. </li><li>Serves as a resource to teachers and other school personnel on methods of instruction, techniques, appropriate modifications, adaptations and behavior management. </li><li>Collaborates with school personnel on Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) as needed. </li><li>Conducts one-on-one or small group activities for academic and/or behavioral purposes as an RTI intervention and as time permits </li><li>For all move-in special education students the educational diagnostician as Case Manager: </li><li>reviews IEP and as needed psychological evaluation in consultation with school psychologist, </li><li>establishes appropriate special education services, </li><li>initiates a conference within 10 school days and </li><li>completes the appropriate student paperwork. </li><li>Completes all education reports and paperwork accurately according to regulations and procedures within the required time line. </li><li>Refers individuals to community agencies to secure medical, vocational, mental health or social services. </li><li>Provides ongoing professional development for educational staff when requested. </li><li>Serves as consultant to school principals, parents and teachers in matters involving special education services in the school and community. </li><li>Follows and informs others of IDEA and Article 7 rules and regulations as well as NISEC Policies and Procedures. </li><li>Attends all NISEC diagnostic staff meetings with NISEC Coordinator and monthly district staff meetings with District Director of home district where office is located. </li><li>Maintains a log of activities. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul>
