<p>Manual Chemical Process Operator II</p> <p>Clean, Temperature-Controlled Environment | Max Lift ? 30 lbs | Modern Facility</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Manual Chemical Process Operator II is responsible for operating and monitoring PVD coating furnaces used to coat carbide and cermet inserts. This role is ideal for individuals with experience as a machine operator, chemical process operator, heat-treat operator, or similar hands-on manufacturing background. Training is provided for motivated candidates with strong mechanical or process aptitude.</p> <p>This position is performed in a modern, clean, temperature-controlled facility with strict safety and environmental controls.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>PVD Furnace Operation</p> <ul> <li> <p>Load and unload fixtures with product into PVD coating furnaces.</p> </li><li> <p>Verify product setup and ensure all components are properly prepared and clean.</p> </li><li> <p>Enter product weights, coating-cycle data, and required parameters into computer systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Start, monitor, and document coating processes.</p> </li></ul> <p>Equipment & Process Support</p> <ul> <li> <p>Clean fixtures, plates, and equipment between furnace cycles.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor and maintain adequate gas supply; replace tanks as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Check targets and melts to ensure sufficient material for upcoming production cycles.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform standard tests to validate coating thickness and adhesion.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct batch cleanings at required intervals.</p> </li><li> <p>Operate secondary process equipment (e.g., parts blaster).</p> </li></ul> <p>Quality & Organization</p> <ul> <li> <p>Separate and organize product during setup and after processing.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized work area.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow all operating procedures and notify supervisors of deviations.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in problem-solving of furnace-related issues using learned knowledge and reasoning skills.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education & Experience</p> <ul> <li> <p>High School diploma or GED required.</p> </li><li> <p>Two-year technical degree preferred but not required.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in machine operation, chemical processing, heat treat, or industrial furnace operation is helpful but not required - training provided.</p> </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <ul> <li> <p>Clean, temperature- and humidity-controlled production area.</p> </li><li> <p>Dust collection systems in use throughout facility.</p> </li><li> <p>Safety glasses and safety shoes required.</p> </li><li> <p>Breathing apparatus available for rare emergency scenarios (e.g., furnace malfunction).</p> </li><li> <p>Hazardous gases monitored continuously for safety.</p> </li><li> <p>Noise levels below 85 dB (hearing protection recommended).</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li> <p>Standing for most of the shift (two breaks per 8-hour period).</p> </li><li> <p>Intermittent walking, reaching, bending, and light machine interaction.</p> </li><li> <p>Lifting limited to a maximum of 30-33 lbs (insert trays).</p> </li></ul> <p>Problem-Solving Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Operators hold responsibility for furnace performance during their shift.</p> </li><li> <p>Work is conducted with autonomy while adhering to established procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Must communicate deviations promptly to leadership.</p> </li><li> <p>Use knowledge, training, and reasoning to solve furnace- or process-related issues.</p> </li></ul> <p>Rewards & Benefits</p> <ul> <li> <p>Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance starting Day 1</p> </li><li> <p>Paid Time Off (PTO) + 4 floating holidays + 7 company holidays per year</p> </li><li> <p>Up to 6% company 401(k) match</p> </li><li> <p>Parental leave, employee discounts, and additional benefits</p> </li><li> <p>Annual safety shoe stipend</p> </li></ul>
