Full Time Shift Day Work Schedule Summary</p> <p>8:00 AM - 4:30 PM in office</p> <p>VP Area President Department 00365 - University Surplus and Salvage Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range $55,000-$60,000 DOE Close Date 03/05/2026 Priority Review Date (Note - Posting may close at any time) Job Summary</p> <p>Responsible to write and post online auctions and answer questions concerning such auctions. Responsible for sales and paperwork associated with online auctions.</p> <p>Supervises the pickup, delivery, pricing, loading, unloading, recycling, and shelving of surplus property within the scope of the University Surplus and Salvage (Surplus) mission. Supervises the completion of paperwork involved in the disposition of the surplus property and or completion of computer records or files. Schedule daily workload to material handlers and student laborers involved in the delivery, receiving, pick up, sales and disposing of surplus property. Inspect and drive trucks and a forklift. CDL not required. Picks up, delivers and receives surplus property. Help with customer service, sales, and the maintenance of the surplus warehouse. Verifies accuracy of orders received versus records of department. Assists departments in completing forms. Verify stock meets specifications and resolves order problems with departments. Keeps track of orders to ensure merchandise is delivered to appropriate locations or picked up from appropriate locations. Enters order information into the computer system. Sort and price property received and place in warehouse for sale, sort for online auction, sort to recycling, sort to electronic recycling or sort to EHS. Management will train and help with sorting and pricing. May help customers in Surplus Store. May be trained on cash register as backup for other cashiers. In the absence of the manager assumes their duties. Will help customers purchase equipment and supplies. May perform minor repairs on property. Ensures quality of materials or material handling equipment is consistent with department needs. Maintains and conducts inventory of property at Surplus. Will train and assign work to material handlers and part-time employees. Aid in the destruction and record keeping of data devices per University of Utah requirements. Has sufficient technical knowledge and training and experience to contribute to the organization and operation of a complex service function governed by University, State of Utah and Federal rules and regulations. The successful completion of a criminal background check and drug test required.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).</p> <p>Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.</p> <p>Preferences</p> <p>A valid Utah Drivers.</p> <p>A clean driving record preferred.</p> <p>The ability to move heavy objects.</p> <p>Type Benefited Staff Special Instructions Summary Additional Information</p> <p>The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems ("URS").
