All previous applicants DO NOT have to reapply to be considered. * </li></ul> <p>The North Carolina Forest Service is designated as an emergency response Division and is a team of professionals who provide forest protection, resource management and environmental education to the residents and landowners of North Carolina through a variety of programs.  The NC Forest Service provides services to the 100 counties in North Carolina.</p> <p> </p> <p> The primary job functions of this position are: </p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Maintains and repairs heavy equipment, as well as trouble shoots complex mechanical problems including diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, final drives, hydraulics, brakes and undercarriage problem.   </li><li>Will need to use and comprehend repair manuals and schematics.   </li><li>Provide irrigation equipment repair including electric, PTO and engine driven pumps as well as repair and maintain specialized forestry equipment and will also provide welding and metal fabrication. </li></ul> <p>Environmental exposures are adverse weather, forest pests, hunters, intense heat, dust and smoke. </p> <p>Work hours are typically 8-5, Mon-Fri.  Some work functions require evening, holiday and/or weekend work.  Wildfire & disaster/emergency response functions require readiness 24/7.  </p> <p>Some overnight travel required for emergency response and/or training.</p> <p> </p> <p>Residency will be discussed at the time of interview.</p> <p>Duty Station Location:  </p> <p>2958 Rouse Road Extension, Kinston, NC  28504</p> <p> </p> <p>The employee must operate a state vehicle and hold a valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver's License.
