<p>Job Description:</p> <p>SUMMARY: To develop in each pupil an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms using skills and techniques of artistic expression appropriate to the pupil's interests and abilities; to develop aesthetic understandings and appreciations; to discover and develop talents of pupils in the field of art.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.</p> <ul> <li>Teaches knowledge and skills in art, including mac/digital technology, drawing, painting, lettering, design, commercial art, art history, and three-dimensional art, following the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities. </li><li>Provides instruction by which pupils develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art and its connection to our global society and potential careers. </li><li>Demonstrates techniques in activities such as drawing, painting and modeling using standard and teacher-prepared instructional aids. </li><li>Develop instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration and working time. </li><li>Provides individual and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual and artistic abilities and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities. </li><li>Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive studio environment. </li><li>Instruct pupils in proper care and use of tools and equipment. </li><li>Organizes storage areas and controls use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse and to minimize time required for distribution and collection. </li><li>Evaluates each pupil's performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings and prepares progress reports. </li><li>Selects and requisitions instructional materials, tools, instructional aids and maintains required inventory records. </li><li>Plans and presents art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit pupils' work for the school and the community. </li><li>May sponsor exhibits from outside the school. </li><li>Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities. </li><li>Maintains an auditable record of pupil attendance and makes daily reports of pupils absent each period. </li><li>Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress. </li><li>Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school or on a district level. </li><li>Implements an individual education program for special needs students. </li><li>Collaborate with community partners and resident artists to enhance student learning </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Supervises classroom and students (volunteers and parent helpers where appropriate). Performs general supervisory duties as scheduled. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
