Standard business hours are expected, with occasional evenings or weekend commitments to support instructional, clinical, or university activities.</p> <p>ABOUT THE ROLE</p> <p>The College of Optometry at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions supports RMU's mission to prepare skilled optometric physicians who exemplify excellence in patient care, education, research, and public service.</p> <p>Faculty members contribute to didactic and clinical instruction, curriculum development, student advising, scholarship and/or clinical practice, and shared governance. The position offers the opportunity to shape future leaders in optometric medicine while advancing the profession through teaching, service, and scholarly engagement.</p> <p>WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS</p> <p>This role directly impacts the quality of optometric education and patient care delivered by future graduates. By educating and mentoring students in an evidence-based, patient-centered environment, faculty members help improve access to high-quality eye care and advance health outcomes across diverse communities.</p> <p>Your expertise will contribute to a collaborative academic culture that emphasizes ethics, innovation, service, and lifelong learning-core values central to RMU and the profession of optometry.</p> <p>WHAT YOU WILL DO</p> <p>As a faculty member in the College of Optometry, you will:</p> <ul> <li>Deliver high-quality instruction in didactic, laboratory, online, and clinical settings </li><li>Participate in curriculum design, course assessment, and program evaluation </li><li>Advise and mentor students throughout admissions, progression, and professional development </li><li>Prepare course materials using best practices in optometric and health professions education </li><li>Engage in scholarly activity and/or clinical practice consistent with rank and appointment </li><li>Participate actively in university and program governance </li><li>Serve on program, university, state, and national committees as appropriate </li><li>Collaborate with faculty, administrators, students, and community partners </li><li>Support RMU's mission through professional service and community engagement </li><li>Maintain effective communication across academic and clinical stakeholders </li></ul> <p>WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Doctor of Optometry (OD) or a terminal degree aligned with the subject matter </li><li>Completion of a residency or fellowship, or a minimum of three (3) years of full-time clinical experience in lieu of postgraduate training </li><li>Eligibility for optometric licensure in the State of Utah </li><li>Interest or expertise in one or more of the following areas: Optics, Ocular Disease, Systemic Disease, Neuro-Optometry, Glaucoma, Pediatrics, or Binocular Vision </li><li>Experience with curriculum development, assessment, or accreditation activities </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to teaching, student success, and ethical professional practice </li><li>Strong communication and collaborative skills in academic and clinical environments </li><li>Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting contemporary optometric education </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Prior teaching experience at a College or School of Optometry </li><li>Active participation in local, state, or national optometric organizations </li></ul> <p>ABOUT RMU</p> <p>Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (RMU) is a graduate-level institution dedicated to advancing healthcare education, research, and service.
