<p>NOTICE OF VACANCY</p> <p>Part Time - Long Term Sub Adjustment Counselor (3 days per week) WALES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Anticipated Start Date: August 27, 2025 - November 25, 2025</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Building Principal</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES: The Adjustment Counselor is accountable for evaluating and providing services for students.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Identify and assess academic and behavioral concerns through analysis of factors impacting student adjustment including factors in the home, school, and community. Assist students in identifying, modifying and/or changing behavior that interferes with achievement and school adjustment </li><li>Develop and implement measurable goals and objectives which address students social/emotional needs (related to school adjustment and DBT/CBT Therapy) </li><li>Provide individual and group therapeutic counseling to students </li><li>Provide strategies, support and resources to assist teachers in managing social/emotional issues in their classroom </li><li>Collaborate with school staff and other school district personnel in implementing strategies to promote student learning </li><li>Provide crisis intervention services </li><li>Conduct classroom meetings, social skills groups, and classroom presentations on identified areas of concern for the students </li><li>Participate as a member of school-based teams to develop interventions for promoting students' academic success, including modeling and coaching of strategies </li><li>Serve as a liaison between families and the school to positively promote a collaborative process in educational planning for students by encouraging family participation in the school setting </li><li>Consult and collaborate with outside agencies and hospitals, Refer students and/or families to appropriate community agencies </li><li>Increase the understanding of teachers, parents, and others in the community of the causes for the problems that students may have </li></ul> <p>DISTRICT PROCEDURES</p> <ul> <li>Follows District procedures and protocols, including placement, and counseling protocols. </li><li>Attends and participates in district-wide professional development activities as directed by Principal and/or Special Education Director QUALIFICATIONS </li><li>Valid Massachusetts DESE Counselor Licensure (Adjustment Counselor Licensure) or related licensure </li><li>Master's Degree in a mental health or related discipline </li><li>Approved CORI and Fingerprinting results </li></ul> <p>Kerri Mahota, Principal Wales Elementary School 41 Main Street Wales, MA 01081</p> <p>POSTED: 8/5/25APPLICATION DEADLINE: 8/19/25</p> <p>Tantasqua/Union 61 School Districts are committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, pregnancy, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital/civil union status, ancestry, place of birth, age, citizenship status, veteran status, political affiliation, genetic information or disability, as defined and required by state and federal laws.
