<p>Description and Functions</p> <p>Open Until Filled</p> <p>GENERAL DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a full-time Safety and Standardization Pilot in Cheyenne, Wyoming. As a Safety and Standardization Pilot, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Flight Operations Safety Management System (SMS) and Standardization program while performing intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.</p> <ul> <li>Advises and assists the Aeronautics Administrator and Flight Operations Manager/Chief Pilot on aviation pilot training and standardization policy and procedure </li><li>Maintains a high level of aircraft proficiency as an instructor pilot </li><li>Provides expertise on individual, crew, and collective training to the Flight Operations Manager/Chief Pilot </li><li>Develops and mentors all aircrew members and trainers in flight operations and manages flight and training records </li><li>Administers the Flight Operations Safety Program </li><li>Advises the Aeronautics Administrator and Flight Operations Manager/Chief Pilot on safety requirements and recommends programs and policies to best meet those requirements </li><li>Conducts safety committee and flight operations safety meetings, as well as annual inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety policy and procedures </li><li>Manages the quantitative risk assessment program to calculate and evaluate risk on every flight and mitigate risk to the lowest level </li><li>Maintains analysis system using data derived from accident and incident reports and identifies trends requiring management action </li><li>Mentors, fosters, and encourages professional development within the pilot program </li><li>Serves as Pilot-in-Command and Second-in-Command of single and multi-engine, turbine, jet-powered aircraft in support of transportation needs for the State of Wyoming </li><li>Operates aircraft in a multi-air traffic environment, in complex airspace, in varying weather conditions, in the day and at night </li><li>Maintains fitness for flight status, availability, and readiness during wait periods and times of unassigned flights </li><li>Performs all duties assigned to pilots in the Aeronautics Division </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>PREFERENCES:</p> <p>Preference may be given to candidates with a CE-500 type rating, 2000 hours of fixed-wing aircraft time, 1000 hours flying as a pilot-in-command, and a first-class medical certificate, and who possess an FAA multi-engine instructor rating and an FAA instrument instructor rating.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE:</p> <ul> <li>Comprehensive knowledge and piloting experience to safely operate a single and multi-engine turbine jet airplane in complex airspace and varying weather conditions </li><li>Knowledge of IFR/VFR rules and regulations, and how to apply them to flight planning </li><li>Knowledge of professional publications, to include Federal Aviation Regulations, Aeronautical Information Manual, Air Traffic Control procedures, and state laws </li><li>Knowledge of the principles and concepts of aviation and flight operation, safety,y and risk management </li><li>Knowledge of the principles and concepts of standardization policy and procedure </li><li>Knowledge of planning, organizing, and coordinating to support the achievement of operational goals </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Piloting) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Pilot</p> <p>Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:</p> <p>Pilot's License consisting of a commercial certificate with instrument rating for airplane (single and multi-engine rating) with 2000 hours total flying time, 1000 hours fixed-wing aircraft time, 750 hours flying as pilot-in-command, 250 hours flying multi-engine airplane, 100 hours of night flying and 100 hours of actual or simulated instrument flying of which 50 hours must be in actual flight and have a first class Medical Certificate.</p> <p>OR</p> <p>Education & Experience Substitution:</p> <p>4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Piloting)</p> <p>Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:</p> <p>Pilot's License consisting of a commercial certificate with instrument rating for airplane (single and multi-engine rating) with 2000 hours total flying time, 1000 hours fixed-wing aircraft time, 750 hours flying as pilot-in-command, 250 hours flying multi-engine airplane, 100 hours of night flying and 100 hours of actual or simulated instrument flying of which 50 hours must be in actual flight and have a first class Medical Certificate.</p> <p>Necessary Special Requirements</p> <p>PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Availability required 7 days a week </li><li>Annual flight time ranges from 200-300 hours </li></ul> <p>NOTES:</p> <ul> <li>FLSA:
