<p>Job Description:</p> <p>SUMMARY: The Elementary Supervisor of Mathematics, Science, and Information Technology is responsible for developing, planning, managing, supporting, organizing and implementing Mathematics, Science, and Library Media Science curriculum, instruction, and assessment for elementary schools and grades within the K-8 Schools and provides leadership for district-wide initiatives for math, science, and technology programs. THIS IS A 10 MONTH POSITION</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Curriculum ? Assumes chief responsibility for preparing, coordinating, carrying out, and maintaining the curriculum development, evaluation, and revision for Pre-K-5 math and science, and Pre-K-12 Information Technology (Library Media) ? Monitors the implementation of the curriculum and its effectiveness through observation of practice and a system of local formative and summative assessments ? Assists in reviewing and evaluating the results of district-wide and state-wide testing programs and recommends appropriate modifications to curriculum. ? Coordinates appropriate piloting and support of new or revised curriculum in the areas of math, science, and information technology ? Participates in Curriculum Planning Council Supervision, Evaluation, Professional Learning ? Plans and facilitates professional development in concert with building and district-wide professional development to math and science teachers and library media specialists ? Promotes effective instructional practices and communication that supports high levels of instruction through the use of research-based best practices, effective classroom consultation and program evaluation ? Assists school principals in evaluating math and science teachers and library media specialists through informal and formal evaluations Original: 09-2018 ? Monitors district and school level data to determine trends and in turn develops and implements the most effective state and national student achievement goals ? Prepares narrative and statistical reports regarding achievement and growth in math, science and technology and provides support to administrators and teachers in data-driven decision making to improve student achievement ? Conducts orientation and in-service workshops for Pre-K-5 mathematics and science teachers and library media specialists ? Maintains and develops content and pedagogical knowledge and skills through on-going professional learning ? Serves as an on-site resource person and facilitator for teachers and administrators concerning instruction and implementation of the mathematics, science, and library media curriculum. ? Serves as a member of the TEAM Coordinating Committee for beginning and new teachers ? Serves on the district PDEC committee or subcommittee</p> <p>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Sixth Year Certificate Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience Major/concentration or degree in mathematics and/or science Mathematics 7-12 certification (029)/Chemistry 7-12 (031)/Physics 7-12 (032)/Technology PK-12 (047) CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS: Intermediate Administrative and Mathematics Certification Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: ? Must have a strong undergraduate aptitude in Mathematics or science ? Ability to organize programs, personnel, and activities for productive learning ? Ability to relate to a wide variety of people and to observe, listen, motivate, and provide leadership which results in the best environment ? Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues ? Ability to manage financial, material, and human resources effectively ? Proven ability to make recommendations on various topics, detailed, controversial, simple or complex ? Ability to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate program goals and initiatives ? Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities ? Ability to exercise strict confidence in handling sensitive information ? Must be skilled in collaborative leadership of individuals and groups ? Ability to gather, analyze, and draw actionable implications from data ?
