<p>The Commercial Cleaning/Custodial Training - Correctional Instructor will provide vocational, life skills & job preparation instruction to incarcerated individuals.</p> <ul> <li>Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; job or work experience (s) in a relating vocational and/or life skills subject area </li><li>Ability to operate and move heavy equipment by demonstrating safety and usage </li><li>Ability to teach or demonstrate course work or job experiences associated with the Commercial Cleaning/Custodial Training program </li><li>Candidate must also be able to develop lessons/course syllabus, maintain attendance time sheets, rosters, and create daily assignments for students </li><li>A background in teaching is preferred, but not required </li><li>Candidate should possess effective English communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to relate to and communicate well with individuals from all socio-economic levels and ethnic groups </li><li>Candidate must be willing to work in a correctional facility in direct contact with incarcerated individuals </li><li>Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. </li><li>Applicant must complete the NC Department of Public Safety background check form. Please contact the Greene County Center Correctional Programs Coordinator at 252-747-3434, for additional information. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Must be willing to work in correctional institutions with inmates and staff </li><li>Ability to work flexible hours based on correctional facility and course </li><li>Standard working schedule for this position is Monday-Thursday from 8am-4pm (28 hours weekly) weekly" </li></ul> <p>Lenoir Community College is a comprehensive institution which places primary emphasis on excellence in classroom instruction. This includes lesson plans for each class meeting </li><li>Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students </li><li>Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs </li><li>Employ available instructional technology when appropriate </li><li>Encourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments </li><li>Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials in accordance with course objectives </li><li>Maintain accurate student rosters and attendance </li></ul> <p>Evaluation of Student Learning</p> <ul> <li>Establish and follow meaningful learning objectives </li><li>Develop and explain methods that fairly measure student progress toward course objectives </li><li>Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning </li><li>Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grade rosters to division administrator each semester according to established deadlines </li><li>Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances </li></ul> <p>Safe and Orderly Learning Environment</p> <ul> <li>Maintain teacher/student relationships appropriate for a correctional program setting </li><li>Maintain accurate inventory records for all instructional resources </li><li>Maintain a safe, secure and orderly classroom at all times </li></ul> <p>Lenoir Community College is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
