<p>TITLE: Interpreter</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED required; associate's or 60 credits preferred. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking students and families, or families whose home language is other than English, in both oral and written form. Oral and written fluency in Spanish is required. </li><li>Certification in community interpreting with a minimum proficiency level of Advanced Low. </li><li>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. </li></ul> <p>JOB GOAL: To facilitate effective communication between school personnel and</p> <p>Spanish-speaking students and families, or families whose home language is other than</p> <p>English, with regard to academic processes and programs, student and parental rights and</p> <p>responsibilities, school events and opportunities, and other communications to afford equitable access to school and related services.</p> <p>REPORTS TO: School Manager or Principal</p> <p>ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Provides services to English Language Learners at the request of the administration; and works collaboratively with English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) instructors/tutors, and the Community of School Liaison and Facilitator to accomplish job goals. </li><li>Assures that school-based documents and information distributed to parents are translated appropriately, including video and voice communication originating from the school. </li><li>Collaborates with ESOL teachers, Community of School Liaison and Facilitator or school counselors to provide outreach services to Spanish-speaking families, or families whose home language is other than English. </li><li>Interprets for Spanish-speaking families, or families whose home language is other than English during parent/teacher conferences. Translates school related documents to parents upon request from parents. </li><li>Is available to interpret for Spanish-speaking students and families, or families whose language is other than English during school events such as parent workshops, award days, etc. </li><li>Provides interpretation or translation for health and guidance services as needed to ensure students safety and well-being. </li><li>Assists with interpretation in instructional settings as needed. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Eleven month work year. Salary to be established by the Board.</p> <p>SALAR SCALE: CS6 Range 05</p>
