<p>Position at MTA Headquarters</p> <p>JOB TITLE:</p> <p>People Department Coordinator</p> <p>DEPT/DIV:</p> <p>People Department</p> <p>WORK LOCATION:</p> <p>2 Broadway</p> <p>FULL/PART-TIME</p> <p>HOURS OF WORK:</p> <p>FULL</p> <p>9:00 am - 5:30 pm (7 ½ hours/day)</p> <p>SALARY RANGE:</p> <p>$62,111 - $78,513</p> <p>DEADLINE:</p> <p>Until filled</p> <p>This position is eligible for teleworking, which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective hire date.</p> <p>Opening:</p> <p>The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is North America's largest transportation network, serving a population of 15.3 million people across a 5,000-square-mile travel area surrounding New York City, Long Island, southeastern New York State, and Connecticut. The MTA network comprises the nation's largest bus fleet and more subway and commuter rail cars than all other U.S. transit systems combined. MTA strives to provide a safe and reliable commute, excellent customer service, and rewarding opportunities.</p> <p>Position Objective:</p> <p>The People Department Coordinator provides operational, analytical, and coordination support to the Chief People Officer and the People Department leadership team. This role ensures the smooth functioning of daily HR operations while assisting with tracking the progress of strategic initiatives. Assist with coordination of cross-functional efforts, maintain visibility into key metrics, support executive-level meeting preparation, and manage special projects. This position will help strengthen our People department function and will contribute to culture, engagement, and change management efforts, making it a critical connector across teams and a steady operational anchor for the People organization.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist the Chief People Officer in coordinating daily HR Operations with a focus on supporting Strategic Projects and Data Initiatives across a distributed workforce. </li><li>Track, monitor, and report progress against the People department's strategic goals, maintaining dashboards, preparing regular updates, and ensuring People department leaders have clear visibility into key milestones. </li><li>Serve as a point of coordination between cross-functional HR teams (e.g., Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Labor Relations, Learning & Development). </li><li>Facilitate agenda preparation, meeting logistics, follow-ups, and action item tracking for executive-level HR meetings. </li><li>Prepare internal communications, assist with presentations, and reports for various stakeholders, including the CHRO, HR leadership, and senior executives. </li><li>Champion organizational culture and engagement initiatives, helping reinforce values and drive a cohesive employee experience across the enterprise. </li><li>Support management efforts related to new HR systems, processes, and organizational initiatives, helping teams adapt effectively and sustainably. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <p>Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Must be proactive and possess the ability to plan and organize deliverables across a complex, diverse Human Resource Operation. </li><li>Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail while adhering to deadlines </li><li>Strong organizational and project management skills </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and/or HRIS, project tracking, or analytics tools a plus (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). </li><li>Ability to work with confidential information. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work in a high-profile, high-pressure environment effectively. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with key internal and/or external stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>Required Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. </li><li>1-2 years of relevant work experience, ideally in HR operations, project management, consulting, or organizational planning. </li><li>1-2 years of experience in generating presentations, including visuals, data sets, and insights across a broad audience of stakeholders to inform strategy </li></ul> <p>The Following is/are preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working in or with large, unionized, or operationally complex organizations. </li><li>Exposure to enterprise HR functions or transformation initiatives in the public and private sectors. </li><li>Demonstrated interest in transportation, infrastructure, or public service sectors </li><li>Familiarity with the MTA's policies and procedures, a plus. </li></ul> <p>Other Information</p> <p>Pursuant to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial</p> <p>Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the "Commission").</p> <p>Equal Employment Opportunity</p> <p>MTA and its subsidiary and affiliated agencies are Equal Opportunity Employers, including those concerning veteran status and individuals with disabilities.</p> <p>The MTA encourages qualified applicants from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and abilities, including military service members, to apply.</p>
