<p>Seasonal Flagger/ Laborer 1</p> <p>Yamhill County has two seasonal, full-time positions for a Flagger/Laborer 1. In this role you will use County vehicles to drive to work areas and deploys signs consistent with MUTCD standards. Standing for long periods of time while flagging traffic through work zone. Interact with the traveling public often. Assignments may require manual labor in their accomplishment as well as accuracy and close attention to specific details.</p> <p>SUPERVISION RECEIVED:</p> <p>Works under the immediate supervision of the Road Manager and Road Supervisor or other administrative and professional superiors. Work is reviewed to ensure instructions are followed and for conformance with established departmental and engineering standards.</p> <p>SUPERVISION EXERCISED:</p> <p>Supervision is not a responsibility of this position.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITIONS ASSIGNED TO THIS CLASSIFICATION. DEPENDING ON ASSIGNMENT, THE EMPLOYEE MAY PERFORM A COMBINATION OF SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING DUTIES:</p> <ul> <li>Work Zone Traffic Control, "Flagging" - Safely direct and control traffic in and around work zones. </li><li>Manual Labor - Perform manual labor including but not limited to cutting and removing roadside vegetation; removing obstacles from roadways; clearing trash and debris from the right-of-way; loading and unloading materials; installing and/or repairing fences, rails, and signposts. </li><li>Equipment Operations - Operate light duty pickup trucks. </li><li>Exposure - Work is done outdoors in all types of weather and in all areas of the County. </li><li>Performance - Must be able to work continuously in a productive manner, with a professional demeanor; understand and execute directions; and effectively communicate and work with others. </li></ul> <p>Required Information</p> <p>Under the provisions of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, any person hired or rehired is required to provide evidence of identity and eligibility for employment. If you "opt out" or "unsubscribe" from e-mail notifications from NEOGOV, it will impact our ability to communicate with you about job postings.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE OF:</p> <ul> <li>Methods and materials used in road and bridge repair and maintenance. </li><li>Work Zone Safety standards and requirements. </li></ul> <p>SKILL IN:</p> <ul> <li>Operating equipment safely under varying conditions. </li><li>Performing designated field and road duties such as flagging traffic, assisting crews and maintaining light motorized equipment. </li><li>Communicating, both orally and in writing. </li></ul> <p>ABILITY TO:</p> <ul> <li>Perform the duties of a Work Zone Safety certified flagger. </li><li>Perform manual work outdoors. </li><li>Operate equipment safely and under adverse conditions. </li><li>Follow oral and written instructions. </li><li>Follow company safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE). </li><li>Report hazards and unsafe behaviors. </li><li>Attend work as scheduled and/or required.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: </li></ul> <p>Experience in Work Zone Safety standards and flagging, operation of light road maintenance equipment such as trucks, mowing machines, light rollers, etc., and experience performing semi- and skilled manual tasks as required.</p> <p>OTHER REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Ability to secure and maintain a driver's license valid in the state of Oregon. Will be required to drive a County vehicle. Employees authorized to operate a private vehicle on County business are required to carry a valid driver's license and liability insurance minimums as outlined in ORS 806.070.</p> <p>May be subject to successful completion of a background check.WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS SUMMARY:</p> <p>The incumbent typically works in a building and outdoor areas and uses mechanical equipment as needed to perform duties with associated noise levels. Weather conditions may vary. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday. Some areas may be exposed to loud noise and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hearing protection.</p> <p>The employee is regularly required to talk, listen and hear, frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, regularly push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally push, pull and lift up to 60 pounds. The incumbent will regularly use mechanical equipment typical of those used in the maintenance of buildings and landscape.</p> <p>The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
