<p>Direct all day-to-day operations of the grant-funded New York State Science & Technology Law Center (NYS STLC) and the SUCOL Innovation Law Center (ILC). Responsible for compliance with grant obligations, including identifying and cultivating relationships with incubators and other clients in need of research from the NYS STLC, communicating with external agencies, preparing, and finalizing reports, planning, and implementing conferences on salient subject matter. Oversees student research and programs, including the Law 815 curriculum and related programs. Assists with preparation of presentations and public outreach on behalf of the NYS STLC. Manage all aspects and plans how ILC budgets will be spent (grants, operating and gifts).</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>J.D. degree, knowledge of IP and regulatory law preferred; concentration is technology commercialization preferred. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>J.D. degree. </li><li>5+ years of law/management related experience preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of IP and regulatory law preferred. </li><li>Excellent people skills in small and large group settings. </li><li>Superior attention to detail. </li><li>Excellent written, verbal and 'in-person' communication skills. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently. </li><li>Ability to provide assistance to multiple people concurrently. </li><li>Ability to initiate and complete projects with minimal level of supervision. </li><li>Excellent MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills. </li><li>Deep interest in, and knowledge of technology innovation and technology transfer matters. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Manages day-to-day operations of the grant-funded NYS STLC/ILC. </li><li>Works with Executive Director around strategic planning and execution for Center programming, growth, and budget. </li><li>Responsible for compliance with NYS grant obligations. </li><li>Supervise Research Assistants and collaborate with adjunct faculty and technical personnel working on various NYS STLC research projects during the year. </li><li>Participation in client meetings, reviews, edits, and finalizes IP, regulatory and market aspects of research reports produced at the Center. </li><li>Responsible for summer program operations (identify summer projects, participate in meetings, review, and finalize reports, supervise summer associates, and manage day-to-day summer program operations). </li><li>Manage all aspects of the operational support for Innovation Law Center. </li><li>Supervise Center administrative staff. </li><li>Plan, design, and develop content and oversee management of the NYS STLC (http://nysstlc.syr.edu) website, update resource content, such as guidebooks and webcasts on technology commercialization issues, and other related grant obligations. </li><li>Provide substantive education to student researchers and potential Center clients on IP, regulatory and business law matters in the context of grant funded research. </li><li>Advocates for funding from multiple sources to continue and grow the work of the Center. Manages and plans how ILC budgets will be spent (grants, operating and gifts), manage payroll, develop forecasts, and determine the appropriate funding source when you are issuing payments out of ILC. </li><li>Develop strategy and operational plans for revenue generating program(s) for the Innovation Law Center in collaboration with faculty sponsors and other university experts. </li><li>Plan content for educational resources and conferences. </li><li>Participate in planning and execution of annual conference and other events, including developing content and supervision of operational needs of the event, in compliance with grant obligations.
